In mammals, the role of melatonin in the control of seasonality is well documented, and the sites and mechanisms of action involved are beginning to be identified. The exact role of the hormone in the circadian timing system remains to be determined. However, exogenous melatonin has been shown to affect the circadian clock. Identification of the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in this well characterized chronobiotic effect will allow clarification of the role of endogenous melatonin in circadian organization.

This study investigated, for the first time, the alterations in the uterine echotexture and blood flow in cyclic and acyclic (inactive ovary) goats using ultrasonography. The study aimed also to evaluate the metabolomic changes in the plasma of cyclic and acyclic goats. Furthermore, the histopathological approach was applied to the specimens of the uterus to validate the findings of this study.

Flame retardant polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) accumulate in human bodies through food and dust ingestion, and cause neurobehavioral deficits with obscure mechanism. We aimed to investigate NMDAR-CaMKⅡγ-mediated synapse-to-nuclear communication involved in BDE-209-induced cognitive impairment, and alleviation from exogenous melatonin. Decreased NMDAR subunits GluN2A and 2B, autophosphorylation of CaMKⅡα, and postsynaptic GluA1 trafficking were observed in the hippocampus of juvenile rats after maternal BDE-209 exposure.

Background: People share health-related experiences and treatments, such as for insomnia, in digital communities. Natural language processing tools can be leveraged to understand the terms used in digital spaces to discuss insomnia and insomnia treatments.
Objective: The aim of this study is to summarize and chart trends of insomnia treatment terms on a digital insomnia message board.

Objective: The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of melatonin in drug- or contrast-induced AKI in preclinical and clinical studies.
Methods: PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), and clinical trials.GOV from the beginning until August 1, 2024.
Background: Circadian function, characterized by circadian strength, timing, and fragmentation, has been shown to correlate with cognitive function; however, little is known about in these associations, particularly among older adults who may have more variability in their sleep-wake schedules.
Method: Among 60 community-living adults aged 60-90 years with self-reported sleep complaints ≥once/ week, we investigated gender differences in the associations between circadian and cognitive function. Participants completed seven days of actigraphy and one night of polysomnography.
