Some authors have noticed a clear decrease of the width of keratinized gingiva when they compared the width over deciduous and newly erupted permanent teeth. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to assess the width of keratinized gingiva over permanent and deciduous teeth present in 6 to 11-year old children in an urban environment. The greatest width of keratinized gingiva was found over deciduous canines and permanent incisors. When comparing the width of keratinized gingiva over deciduous canines and molars and permanent first incisors and first molars, statistically significant differences were found only between 6- and 11-year-old groups. The findings do not seem to support previously published data, but do suggest that periodontal mucogingival surgery is not needed before the patient reaches the adult age, since there is a tendency of an increase of the width of keratinized gingiva.

Objective: To evaluate the wound healing of recipient and donor sites following keratinized mucosa augmentation (KMA) around implants in reconstructed jaw areas and to compare these outcomes with gingival grafts in native jawbone, so as to provide clinical guidance for postoperative maintenance, and to investigate the impact of clinical experience on the evaluation of KMA postoperative healing through subgroup comparisons.
Methods: This study included patients who underwent resection of maxillofacial tumors, fibular or iliac flap reconstruction, and implant placement at Peking University Dental Hospital from October 2020 to April 2023. Three months post-implant placement, the patients were referred for KMA procedures.

Insufficient keratinized mucosa is a common clinical problem. Although there is no consistent data on the long-term success of implant restorations relative to the presence or absence of peri-implant keratinized mucosa, it is widely accepted that the presence of keratinized mucosa width<2 mm is associated with increased biofilm accumulation, soft-tissue inflammation, and mucosal recession. Free gingival graft (FGG) is the standard surgical intervention for augmenting the width of keratinized gingiva.

Materials And Methods: To achieve this goal, a clinical and functional study was carried out in the mucous membrane of the alveolar ridge after vestibuloplasty in 80 patients (35 men and 45 women) aged from 18 to 65 years, average age 41.5±1.

Background: To minimize the risk of impaired osseointegration historically, it has been recommended to insert the implant into the bone (submerged implants) and to allow for submerged healing of 3-6 months in the lower and upper jaw, this conventional technique is advocated. The concept of nonsubmerged healing was introduced in 1988 in which gingival former was placed at the time of implant placement instead of cover screw. The treatment concept of nonsubmerged implant placement enables early implant loading, one surgical procedure only, and a reduced treatment period for the patients.

Objectives: To: 1) analyze possible differences in the CIEDE2000 lightness, chroma and hue of the gingiva at the free gingival margin (FGM) and the middle zone of keratinized gingiva (MZ) between participants with an ISFP in the maxillary anterior region and participants with natural dentition and healthy gums; and 2) examine the perceptibility/acceptability of the differences in CIEDE2000 lightness, chroma and hue and in overall color, using the Euclidean and CIEDE2000 formulae.
Methods: The L*, a* and b* color coordinates were measured in 60 adult participants (30 with an ISFP and 30 with healthy teeth and gums) using a Spectroshade™ Micro spectrophotometer. From these coordinates, the changes in lightness (ΔL'), chroma (ΔC') and hue (ΔH') CIEDE2000 between the participants with and without an ISFP were quantified.
