Background: Incapacitating wounds are common in rural areas of tropical developing countries. In this setting, injury and bite wounds often become chronic due to poor wound management.
Objective: To summarize more than 20 years of research, culminating with testing the use of Available Technology Dressings (ATDs), a very specific sustainable moist dressing technique, which can be taught to patients and lay health care providers.

Background: Excess dietary salt consumption is a major contributor to hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Public education programs on the dangers of high salt intake, and population level interventions to reduce the salt content in foods are possible strategies to address this problem. In Jamaica, there are limited data on the levels of salt consumption and the population's knowledge and practices with regards to salt consumption.

Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS) is an oncologic emergency that may occur in any patient with a hematologic malignancy, even prior to initiation of chemotherapy. Spontaneous TLS massive tumor cell destruction with intracellular electrolyte release prior to the initiation of chemotherapy. Spontaneous tumor lysis syndrome is a rare presentation, mainly occurring in Acute Leukemia and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Foreign body (FB) ingestion is an important emergency in low- to middle-income countries. Our study sought to identify which clinical and radiological findings best predict upper gastrointestinal FB impaction. Amongst 149 adolescents and adults presenting to two Jamaican hospitals between 2018 and 2020, FB's were found at 31% of telescopic laryngoscopies and 60% of rigid oesophagoscopies.
