Cancer-specific antigens have been a significant area of focus in cancer treatment since their discovery in the mid-twentieth century. Cancer germline antigens are a class of antigens specifically overexpressed in germline tissues and cancer cells. Among these, TSGA10 (testis-specific gene antigen 10) is of great interest because of its crucial impact on cancer progression.

Immunotherapy has revolutionized the treatment of cancer but continues to be constrained by limited response rates, acquired resistance, toxicities and high costs, which necessitates the development of new, innovative strategies. The discovery of a connection between the human microbiota and cancer dates back 4,000 years, when local infection was observed to result in tumour eradication in some individuals. However, the true oncological relevance of the intratumoural microbiota was not recognized until the turn of the twentieth century.

Despite decreases in incidence in the twentieth century, cervical cancer continues to be a highly morbid disease in the United States. For those diagnosed with locally advanced disease, single-agent cisplatin-based chemotherapy concurrent with radiation remains the mainstay of treatment. For patients with metastatic, progressive, and recurrent disease, treatment typically consists of combination chemotherapy and incorporation of bevacizumab, and recent data show benefits with the addition of upfront immunotherapy in women whose cancer expresses programmed death ligand-1.

In 1927 Arthur Cecil Alport, a South African physician, described a British family with an inherited form of kidney disease that affected males more severely than females and was sometimes associated with hearing loss. In 1961, the eponymous name Alport syndrome was adopted. In the late twentieth century three genes responsible for the disease were discovered: , , and encoding for the α3, α4, α5 polypeptide chains of type IV collagen, respectively.

G-protein-coupled receptors play a crucial role in various signaling pathways and function as targets for treating a wide spectrum of diseases. Since the twentieth century, extensive research has been conducted on the Mu opioid receptor (MOR) as a drug target. We examined the MOR inactivation and activation processes using an enhanced sampling method (Gaussian accelerated molecular dynamics), the binding pocket site area method, the root mean square deviation method, and the free energy (potential of mean force) method.
