Superimposed on the interplay of assessment and surgical and pharmacological treatment of epilepsy-intertwined with behavioral, psychiatric, and neurological conditions-are the fiduciary responsibilities and regulatory supervision necessary to protect the rights of developmentally disabled patients. Federal law, state regulations, interpretative material, and legal precedents contribute to a cumbersome, confusing, and frequently demoralizing guide to psychiatric care of mentally ill and developmentally disabled individuals. The Code of Federal Regulation governs people living in long-term residential facilities. Using examples from Wisconsin law, clinical and legal concepts are illustrated. Annual seizure graphs are used for frequent monitoring, better trend analysis, and reduced polypharmacy. An experienced board-certified psychiatrist ensures that an initial comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, and quarterly treatment plan update-essential items for the Department of Justice's CRIPA review-are conducted. Most states have legislation designed to provide guidelines for the use of psychotropic medications to minimize abuse.

Aim: To quantify optic nerve hypoplasia (ONH) and septo-optic-pituitary dysplasia (SOD) morbidities and comorbidities.
Method: A retrospective population-based study with a case-control design was undertaken using administrative health data from Manitoba, Canada. Cases were 124 patients with ONH or SOD (70 males, 54 females; age range 6 months-36 years 8 months [mean 13 years, SD 7 years 2 months]) diagnosed from 1990 to 2019, matched to 620 unrelated population-based controls (350 males, 270 females; age range 0-36 years 8 months [mean 12 years 5 months, SD 7 years 2 months]) on birth year, sex, and area of residence.

Food insecurity (FI) has been identified as a determinant of child development, yet evidence quantifying this association using the newly developed Early Childhood Development Index 2030 (ECDI2030) remains limited. Herein, we provide national estimates of early childhood development (ECD) risks using the ECDI2030 and examined to what extent FI was associated with ECD among children aged 24-59 months in Nigeria. This population based cross-sectional analyses used data from the UNICEF-supported 2021 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey in Nigeria.

Purpose Of Review: Prader-Willi (PWS) and Angelman (AS) syndromes arise from errors in 15q11-q13 imprinting. This review describes recent advances in genomics and how these expand our understanding of these rare disorders, guiding treatment strategies to improve patient outcomes.
Recent Findings: PWS features include severe infantile hypotonia, failure to thrive, hypogonadism, developmental delay, behavioral and psychiatric features, hyperphagia, and morbid obesity, if unmanaged.

Introduction: Ensuring an appropriate length of stay (LOS) is a primary goal for hospitals, as prolonged LOS poses clinical risks and organizational challenges. Children and adolescents are particularly susceptible to prolonged LOS due to frequent hospitalizations and unique vulnerabilities, including developmental disabilities that may necessitate additional care and monitoring. This study aims to describe the LOS of children and adolescent patients and identify the sociodemographic, organizational, clinical, and nursing care factors contributing to prolonged LOS in this population.
