Published: December 2002

Problem: To evaluate the role of CA 125 in prediction of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF/ET) outcome.

Method Of Study: Serum CA 125 concentrations were evaluated in the spontaneous and stimulated cycles of 33 patients. CA 125 was measured using a microparticle enzyme immunoassay (MEIA) (Abbott, Diagnostics, USA). Follicular growth, endometrial thickness and subendometrial blood flow were evaluated by transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound. Statistical analysis was performed by Wilcoxon rank-sum test and Friedman test.

Results: There was no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05) of CA 125 values between spontaneous and stimulated cycles, and between pregnant and non-pregnant patients. A CA 125 rise from the late proliferative to the early secretory phase (P < 0.05) was obtained only in the stimulated cycles. There was no relationship between CA 125, follicle number, endometrial thickness and resistance index of the subendometrial vessels.

Conclusion: CA 125 levels are not predictive of ovarian and endometrial response. Hormonal stimulation does not effect serum CA 125 concentration. There was no influence of CA 125 levels on IVF/ET outcome in stimulated cycles.

Intermittent hypoxemia (IH), a pathophysiologic consequence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), adversely affects insulin sensitivity, insulin secretion, and glucose tolerance. Nifedipine, an L-type calcium channel blocker frequently used for treatment of hypertension, can also impair insulin sensitivity and secretion. However, the cumulative and interactive repercussions of IH and nifedipine on glucose homeostasis have not been previously investigated.

Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase, also known as fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO), is an RNA demethylase that mediates the demethylation of N,2-O-dimethyladenosine (m6Am) and N-methyladenosine (m6A). Both m6Am and m6A are prevalent modifications in mRNA and affect different aspects of transcript biology, including splicing, nuclear export, translation efficiency, and degradation. The role of FTO during (herpes) virus infection remains largely unexplored.

In Situ Balanced Synthesis of High-Activity Low-Spin Iron Cathode Prussian Blue for Enhanced Sodium-Ion Storage.

Nano Lett

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Advanced Structural Materials, Ministry of Education, and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Changchun University of Technology, Changchun 130012, China.

The growing market for sodium-ion batteries has stimulated interest in research on Prussian blue-type cathode materials. Iron hexacyanoferrate (FeHCF) is considered a desirable Prussian blue-type cathode, but the incomplete electrochemical property of its low-spin iron sites hinders its further practical application. In this paper, carboxymethyl cellulose is demonstrated to have an appropriate binding energy through DFT calculations, synthesize Prussian blue in situ, balance Fe and water in FeHCF, and introduce Fe vacancies to activate low-spin Fe sites.

Purpose Low-dose total skin electron beam therapy (LD-TSEBT) has recently gained popularity in treating mycosis fungoides (MF) due to its reduced toxicity and favorable response rates. Combining accelerated LD-TSEBT with the modified Stanford technique (mST), a condensed cycling approach, offers a promising and convenient option. However, in vivo dosimetry data confirming the effectiveness of this approach is limited.
