Published: January 2003

In the five diagnostic tests for H. pylori infection recommended by the Japanese guideline, culture method may be the most difficult in clinical use, because of taking 3 to 5 days for growth, requiring a lot of skill and equipment, and having a possibility of false negative. On the other hand, it has merits of having a specificity of 100%(direct demonstration of the presence of H. pylori), allowing further investigation of the organism (determining its sensitivity to antibiotics, investigating its virulence factors, and typing it for epidemiological purposes). This method is necessary for the cases in whom strains are needed its sensitivity to antibiotics. Considering of increase of CAM-resistant H. pylori in the future, culture method should be necesary in the diagnosis of H. pylori.

Background: Assisted partner services (APSs; sometimes called index testing) are now being brought to scale as a high-yield HIV testing strategy in many nations. However, the success of APSs is often hampered by low levels of partner elicitation. The Computer-Assisted Self-Interview (CASI)-Plus study sought to develop and test a mobile health (mHealth) tool to increase the elicitation of sexual and needle-sharing partners among persons with newly diagnosed HIV.

Developing and validating a HEalthCare NAvigation Competency (HECNAC) Scale for refugees in the United States.

The complex healthcare system in the United States (US) poses significant challenges for people, particularly minorities such as refugees. Refugees often encounter additional layers of challenges to healthcare navigation due to unfamiliarity with the system, limited health literacy, and language barriers. Despite their challenges, it is difficult to identify the gaps as few tools exist to measure navigation competency among this population and many conventional tools assume English proficiency, making them inadequate for refugees and other immigrants.

Pseudoexfoliation glaucoma is a severe form of secondary open angle glaucoma and is associated with activation of the TGF-β pathway by TGF-β1. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA species that are involved in regulation of mRNA expression and translation. To investigate what glaucomatous changes occur in the trabecular meshwork and how these changes may be regulated by miRNAs, we performed a bioinformatics analysis resulting in a miRNA-mRNA interactome.

And acute ankle sprains can easily develop into chronic ankle instability, thereby increasing the difficulty of treatment.
