Objective: To seek a precise method for estimating postmortem interval (PMI) in forensic medicine practice.

Methods: This study detected the concentration of 21 elements in the vitreous humor of rabbit within 96 hours after death and explored the relationship between their concentration and PMI using the method of ICP-MS.

Result: It was shown that the concentration of 9 elements in vitreous humor of rabbit within different intervals after death were correlated to PMI available as a reference indicator to estimate PMI.

Conclusion: The changes in the concentration of certain elements in vitreous humor of vitreous humor are correlated with PMI and determination of such changes can be used to estimate the time of death.

Background: The ciliary muscle is known to play a part in presbyopia, but the mechanism has not received a comprehensive review, which this study aims to achieve. We examined relevant articles published from 1975 through 2022 that explored various properties of the muscle and related tissues in humans and rhesus monkeys. These properties include geometry, elasticity, rigidity, and composition, and were studied using a range of imaging technologies, computer models, and surgical methods.

Endophthalmitis is a serious infectious eye disease that causes permanent vision loss. This study developed a method for rapid identification and drug resistance analysis of pathogens in vitreous humor. After short-term rapid culture, 30 Staphylococcus aureus isolates were enriched and purified from the vitreous humor using Fc-MBL@FeO, and then identified by MALDI-TOF MS.

Purpose: To compare three biometers equipped with swept-source optical coherence tomography (OCT), including ARGOS (OCTB1), IOLMaster 700 (OCTB2), and Anterion (AS-OCTB). The primary aim was to assess the axial length (AL) acquisition success rates, and secondary aims included comparing parameters obtained from the three devices and evaluating postoperative refractive prediction errors.

Setting: Chukyo Eye Clinic, Nagoya, Japan.
