Background: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease, progressively distinctive via cartilage destruction, auto-antibody production, severe joint pain, and synovial inflammation. Nanotechnology represents one of the utmost promising scientific technologies of the 21st century. Nanocarriers could be the key to unlocking its potential by encapsulating Rutin in targeted drug delivery systems, potentially for targeted Rheumatoid arthritis therapy.

Educational Strategies for Teaching Metabolic Profiles Across Three Endurance Training Zones.

Adv Physiol Educ

January 2025

Department of Biochemistry and Tissue Biology, Institute of Biology, State University of Campinas, Campinas, Brazil.

This article explores an innovative educational approach using a metabolic board designed to enhance understanding of muscle metabolism across three endurance training zones: Z1 (light intensity), Z2 (moderate intensity), and Z3 (intense/severe intensity). The aerobic threshold marks the transition from light to moderate domains, and the anaerobic threshold separates moderate from intense domains, with both thresholds adapting to training. Exercises within each training zone elicit specific adaptive responses through distinct signaling pathways, but the metabolic profile induced remains relatively constant across these intensity domains.

Importance: Patients with achalasia face a higher risk of developing esophageal cancer (EC), but the surveillance strategies for these patients remain controversial due to the long disease duration and the lack of identified risk factors.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of esophageal Candida infection among patients with achalasia and to assess the association of Candida infection with EC risk within this population.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective cohort study included patients with achalasia diagnosed at or referred for treatment and monitoring to the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, between January 1, 1980, and May 31, 2024.

Introduction: In the era of functional intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, it is crucial to investigate the influence of different capsulorhexis sizes (including the diameter of the capsulorhexis, area of the anterior capsule opening, anterior capsule coverage, centration and circularity of the capsulorhexis) on the postoperative outcomes (eg, visual acuity, capsule shrinkage, IOL stability and intraocular pressure) in patients undergoing cataract surgery. This is particularly important in patients with high myopia or diabetes mellitus. The proposed protocol aims to enhance the transparency of our research and offer references for future studies.
