Designer chiral quaternary ammonium bifluoride 1 has been prepared, and both its catalytic and its chiral efficiency have been clearly demonstrated by achieving the first catalytic asymmetric nitroaldol reaction of silyl nitronate with aldehydes. For instance, the reaction of trimethylsilyl nitronate 2 (R(1) = Me) with benzaldehyde (R(2) = Ph) in THF in the presence of (S,S)-1 (2 mol %) proceeded smoothly at -78 degrees C, giving the corresponding nitroaldol adduct 3 (R(1) = Me, R(2) = Ph) in 92% isolated yield (anti/syn = 92:8) with 95% ee (anti isomer). The method was found to be successfully applicable to other aromatic aldehydes and silyl nitronates, and a high level of anti selectivity and enantiomeric excess was constantly observed. This finding should lead to the further development of fluoride ion-catalyzed asymmetric carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions.

Ionic liquid (IL) units in heterogeneous catalysts exhibit synergistic effects to enhance catalytic performance and stabilize catalytically active centers, while also preventing the degradation of catalysts during the reaction process. Ionic liquid units in IL-functionalized CMOF catalysts enhance their catalytic performance in a synergistic manner. However, not only are the yields of IL-functionalized CMOFs obtained with post-synthesis methods low, but they also lead to blocking of the MOF pores and leaching of the ionic liquid.

The coherent spin waves, magnons, can propagate without accompanying charge transports and Joule heat dissipation. Room-temperature and long-distance spin waves propagating within nanoscale spin channels are considered promising for integrated magnonic applications, but experimentally challenging. Here we report that long-distance propagation of chiral magnonic edge states can be achieved at room temperature in manganite thin films with long, antiferromagnetically coupled spin spirals (millimetre length) and low magnetic Gilbert damping (~3.

As advanced materials, chiral nanomaterials have recently gained vast attention due to their special geometry-based physical and chemical properties. The fast development of the related science and technology means that various devices involving polarization-based information encryption, photoelectronic and spintronic devices, 3D displays, biomedical sensors and measurement, photonic engineering, electronic engineering, solar devices, , been explored extensively. These fields are at their beginning, and much effort needs to be made, including improving the optical, electronic, and magnetic properties of advanced chiral nanomaterials, precisely designing materials, and developing more efficient construction methods.

Herein, we report the precise control of molecular to supramolecular chirality induction at the single-molecule level just upon subtle modification in an achiral 'nano-size' trizinc(II) porphyrin trimer. A slight variation in the projection of the substituent at the periphery of the central porphyrin unit in a porphyrin trimer (host) resulted in pronounced changes in the interchromophoric arrangement, leading to distinct 'open' and 'closed' conformations. While 'open' form generates 'monomeric' complex with low CD amplitude, 'closed' form produces exclusive 'polymer' with large, amplified CD signal with opposite sign due to stronger intermolecular excitonic coupling.
