To explore the effects of different withering methods on the quality of Congou black tea, this study focused on five different withering methods: natural withering, warm-air withering, sun-natural combined withering, sun withering, and shaking withering. Gas chromatography‒mass spectrometry (GC‒MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and ion-exchange chromatography techniques were used to analyze the nonvolatile and volatile components and composition of the tea. The results revealed significant differences ( < 0.

Tree richness increased biomass carbon sequestration and ecosystem stability of temperate forests in China: Interacted factors and implications.

J Environ Manage

September 2024

State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Silviculture, College of Forestry and Biotechnology, Zhejiang A&F University, Hangzhou, 311300, Zhejiang, China; Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun, 130102, China. Electronic address:

Biodiversity loss and forest degradation have received increasing attention worldwide, and their effects on forest biomass carbon storage and stability have not yet been well defined. This study examined 1275 tree plots using the field survey method to quantify the effects of tree diversity, tree sizes, and mycorrhizal symbiont abundance on biomass carbon storages (C) and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index)-based ecosystem stability (standard deviation/mean NDVI = NDVI_S) during the field survey period from 2008 to 2018. Our data showed C and NDVI_S averaged at 31-108 t ha and 32.

Inefficient nitrogen transport to the lower mantle by sediment subduction.

Nat Commun

August 2024

Key Laboratory of Geoscience Big Data and Deep Resource of Zhejiang Province, School of Earth Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

The fate of sedimentary nitrogen during subduction is essential for understanding the origin of nitrogen in the deep Earth. Here we study the behavior of nitrogen in slab sediments during the phengite to K-hollandite transition at 10-12 GPa and 800-1100 °C. Phengite stability is extended by 1-3 GPa in the nitrogen (NH)-bearing system.

Association between heatwaves and risk and economic burden of injury related hospitalizations in China.

Environ Res

October 2024

China CDC Key Laboratory of Environment and Population Health, National Institute of Environmental Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Beijing, 100021, China. Electronic address:

Background: Public health is greatly affected by heatwaves, especially as a result of climate change. It is unclear whether heatwaves affect injury hospitalization, especially as developing countries facing the impact of climate change.

Objectives: To assess the impact of heatwaves on injury-related hospitalization and the economic burden.
