Purpose: Dose-limiting toxicities of docetaxel are widely considered to be neutropenia, anemia, skin toxicity, and nausea. One of the factors that limit the use of docetaxel is its unpredictability of inter-individual variation in toxicity.
Materials And Methods: In order to identify the genetic factors that affect the risk of docetaxel-induced toxicities, we recruited patients who received docetaxel chemotherapy.

Docetaxel-associated palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia is rarely reported in literature, particularly when used in the treatment of sarcomas. Here, we report a case of docetaxel-related palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia in a 28-year-old male with recurrent Ewing sarcoma. Although palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia has been seen in the literature for 30 years, there has still been little progress in understanding and appropriately addressing this adverse effect.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical literature supporting reduced doses of dexamethasone to prevent taxane hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs), and edema/skin toxicities in respect to docetaxel, when taxanes are given weekly, as opposed to every 3 weeks.
Data Source: Clinical literature of human-controlled clinical trials, accessed through MEDLINE and meeting abstract databases (from 1990 to 2010).
Data Extraction: The retrieved literature was reviewed to include all human clinical trials that recorded adverse effect information with weekly taxanes utilizing reduced-dose or tapering dexamethasone schemas, either prospectively or retrospectively.

Objectives: To review clinical hypersensitivity reactions related to common cancer chemotherapy agents and to discuss potential management strategies.
Data Sources: PubMed searches were performed for articles published from 1970 to 2008 regarding hypersensitivity to cancer chemotherapy and related agents using the keywords hypersensitivity, allergy, chemotherapy, platinums, taxanes, asparaginase, epipodophyllotoxins, and procarbazine. Retrieved articles were surveyed for additional citations.

Docetaxel-related skin toxicity, oral and gastrointestinal mucosal toxicity, and changes in blood cell counts were investigated as predictive factors for major infections in 143 women treated with 3-weekly docetaxel (100 mg/m2) as second-line therapy for metastatic breast cancer in a randomized trial. Each patient with a major infection (n = 37) was compared with two controls. Skin toxicity (odds ratio 2.
