The vertebrate Slug gene encodes a zinc finger-containing transcriptional repressor. Here we report expression of the mouse Slug gene during organogenesis and late fetal development using histochemical detection of beta-galactosidase expressed from a targeted Slug(lacZ) knock-in allele. The Slug gene is highly expressed in the mesenchymal or stromal component of numerous organs. It is also highly expressed in craniofacial mesenchyme, in bone of both mesodermal and neural crest origin, and in the outflow tract and the endocardial cushions of the heart.

This article focusing on examining the function and further, molecular function of SHP2 in ovarian cancer (OC). For the molecular mechanism, bioinformatics was applied to study the specifically expressed genes in ovarian cancer ; the western blotting was applied to identify the EGF, p-SHP2, ZEB1, and E-Cadherin expressions in ovarian cancer tissue and pair adjacent tissue; then SKOV3 cells were treated with EGF and infected with E-Cadherin overexpression lentivirus, and then cells were treated with benzyl butyl phthalate and IRS-1 respectively. Detection of expression of p-SHP2, ZEB1, E-Cadherin, α3-integrin, p-Src, p-SMAD2, Snail, Slug and SKOV3 cells of migration and invasion abilities were detected using Western blot method and cell scratch assay and Transwell assay; Progression of ovarian cancer was detected using subcutaneous tumor transplantation assay in nude mice and HE staining method and immunocyto.

The underlying mechanisms between cancer stem cells (CSC) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in pancreatic cancer (PC) remain unclear. In this study, we identified TGIF2 as a target gene of CSC using sncRNA and machine learning. TGIF2 is closely related to the expression of SOX2, EGFR, and E-cadherin, indicating poor prognosis.

In this study, we applied comparative transcriptomics and proteomics techniques to systematically investigate the dynamic expression patterns of genes and proteins at various stages of early embryonic development of the gastropod Neptunea arthritica cumingii. Twelve cyclin-dependent kinase (CDKs) genes and five downstream proteins associated with these CDKs were identified. Through techniques such as qRT-PCR, our data elucidate for the first time the regulatory functions of CDK family genes and establish CDKs as a pivotal gene cluster in the early embryonic development of N.

Hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) is an autosomal dominant skeletal disorder primarily linked with mutations in Exostosin-1 (EXT1) and Exostosin-2 (EXT2) genes. However, not all HME cases can be explained by these mutations, and its pathogenic mechanisms are not fully understood. Herein, utilizing whole-exome sequencing and genetic screening with a family trio design, we identify two novel rare mutations co-segregating with HME in a Chinese family, including a nonsense mutation (c.

Stirring up the muck: the systematics of soft-sediment Fionidae (Nudibranchia: Aeolidina) from the tropical Indo-Pacific.

PeerJ

December 2024

Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Geology, California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, California, United States.

The tropical Indo-Pacific aeolid nudibranchs of the Fionidae are poorly known and have not been studied in a concerted manner. Many undescribed species are found throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans and are concentrated in the Coral Triangle. With the recent publication of a revised systematic arrangement of the Fionidae, documentation and description of new taxa of Fionidae is especially warranted.
