Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic and inflammatory skin disorder characterized by impaired barrier function and imbalanced immunity. Antibiograms have been used during outbreak investigations for decades as a surrogate for genetic relatedness of Methicillin-resistant (MRSA). In this study, we evaluate the accuracy of antibiograms in detecting transmission, using genomic epidemiology as the reference standard. We analysed epidemiological and genomic data from 1,465 patients and 1,465 MRSA isolates collected at a single clinical microbiology laboratory in the United Kingdom over a one-year period.

Background: Severe pulmonary infection is the primary cause of death in children aged < 5 years. The early identification of pathogenic bacteria and targeted anti-infective therapies can significantly improve the prognosis of children with severe infections. This study aims to provide a reference for the rational use of antibiotics at an early stage in children with severe pulmonary infections.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are among WHO's priority pathogens with antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Studies suggest potential impacts of the COVID-19-pandemic on AMR. We described changes in AMR incidence and epidemiology in Germany during the COVID-19-pandemic.

Purpose: To investigate the risk factors for late postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) following pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), with a focus on positive drain fluid culture (DFC) results on postoperative day (POD) 1.
Methods: Medical records of 198 patients who underwent PD with drain fluid amylase (DFA) on POD 5 < 3x upper limit of normal (ULN) were included. Late POPF was defined as POPF diagnosed post-POD 6, with DFA on POD 5 < 3xULN.
