A method has been developed for constructing a tree source model for genetic text generation. Model visualisation in the form of suffix (context) trees provides a new way of context analysis of symbol sequences. Estimation of the stochastic complexity of the data in the frame of the model serves as a criterion for the model's ascertainment. The model and complexity values are used for analysis of genetic texts. The software realisation of this algorithm enables to reveal statistical properties of genetic sequences based on an information measure. The program developed is available via Internet at http://wwwmgs.bionet.nsc.ru/mgs/programs/complexity/.

How consumer diversity determines consumption efficiency is a central issue in ecology. In the context of predation and biological control, this relationship concerns predator diversity and predation efficiency. Reduced predation efficiency can result from different predator taxa eating each other in addition to their common prey (interference due to intraguild predation).

Resource Segmentation: A New Dimension of the Segmentation Hypothesis in Drought Adaptive Strategies and Its Links to Tree Growth Performance.

Plant Cell Environ

January 2025

Qianyanzhou Ecological Research Station, Key Laboratory of Ecosystem Network Observation and Modeling, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

The segmentation hypothesis, a framework for understanding plant drought adaptive strategy, has long been based on hydraulic resistance and vulnerability. Storage of water and carbohydrate resources is another critical function and shapes plant drought adaption and fitness together with hydraulic efficiency and vulnerability. However, patterns and implications of the interdependency of stored water and carbohydrate resources in the context of the segmentation hypothesis are poorly understood.

When developing general-purpose robot software components, we often lack complete knowledge of the specific contexts in which they will be executed. This limits our ability to make predictions, including our ability to detect program bugs statically. Since running a robot is an expensive task, finding errors at runtime can prolong the debugging loop or even cause safety hazards.

A prediction model for electrical strength of gaseous medium based on molecular reactivity descriptors and machine learning method.

J Mol Model

January 2025

Hubei Key Laboratory·for High-Efficiency-Utilization of Solar Energy and Operation, Control of Energy-Storage System, Hubei-University of Technology, Wuhan, 430068, China.

Context: Ionization and adsorption in gas discharge are similar to electrophilic and nucleophilic reactions. The molecular descriptors characterizing reactions such as electrostatic potential descriptors are useful in predicting the electrical strength of environmentally friendly gases. In this study, descriptors of 73 molecules are employed for correlation analysis with electrical strength.

Background: Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) is recognized as a common clinical conditional pathogen with bla gene-mediated multidrug-resistance that is a significant threat to public health safety. Timely and effective infection control measures are needed to prevent their spread.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of CRAB patients at three teaching hospitals from 2019 to 2022.
