Background: The increase in allergic diseases in children has coincided with the westernization of lifestyles. Although clustering of modifiable lifestyles has been frequently reported in children, there is limited research on how lifestyle factors collectively contribute to allergic conditions. Purpose Of Review: Modernization and Westernization in industrialized and developing nations is associated with a substantial increase in chronic noncommunicable diseases. This transformation has far-reaching effects on lifestyles, impacting areas such as economics, politics, social life, and culture, all of which, in turn, have diverse influences on public health. Loss of contact with nature, alternations in the microbiota, processed food consumption, exposure to environmental pollutants including chemicals, increased stress and decreased physical activity jointly result in increases in the frequency of inflammatory disorders including allergies and many autoimmune and neuropsychiatric diseases.

- - Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a leading cause of death globally, and while Greenland historically had a low prevalence of these diseases, recent life changes have led to increased occurrences, particularly among the elderly.
- - A study comparing NCD prevalence in Nuuk, Greenland, to a suburban area in Denmark found that hypertension was the most common in both locations, but Nuuk had higher rates of diabetes and other conditions, while the Danish suburb had higher rates of asthma and several additional NCDs.
- - The findings indicate that NCDs are increasingly common in Nuuk, highlighting the need for improved focus on NCD management in Greenland's healthcare system as the prevalence may now be comparable to more urbanized settings. *

Recent increases in allergic diseases are thought to be caused by better hygiene, Westernized diets, air pollution, climate change, and other factors that influence host microbiota, a key player in the induction and maintenance of immunoregulatory circuits and tolerance. The increase of allergic diseases in the elderly is also related to additional factors, such as various comorbidities that may interfere with the development and the type of allergic reactions. Immunosenescence plays a central role in these reactions, altering microbiota responses and triggering inflammageing.
