We studied the effect of changes in erythrocyte volume and irreversible thermal denaturation of cytoskeleton proteins and lipid matrix on activity of Ca(2+)-activated K+ channels in erythrocytes of alcoholic and patients with II type diabetes mellitus. Changes in Ca(2+)-dependent potassium permeability of erythrocyte membrane in alcoholic patients and patients with II type diabetes mellitus are related to modification of cytoskeleton, rather than to changes in lipid matrix.

With the increase of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, cancer cells can avoid cell death and damage by up-regulating antioxidant programs. Therefore, it will be more effective to induce cell death by using targeted strategies to further improve ROS levels and drugs that inhibit antioxidant programs. Considering that dihydroartemisinin (DHA) can cause oxidative damage to protein, DNA, or lipids by producing excessive ROS, while, disulfiram (DSF) can inhibit glutathione (GSH) levels and achieve the therapeutic effect by inhibiting antioxidant system and amplifying oxidative stress, they were co-loaded onto the copper peroxide nanoparticles (CuO) coated with copper tannic acid (Cu-TA), to build a drug delivery system of CuO@Cu-TA@DSF/DHA nanoparticles (CCTDD NPs).

: Cannabidiol (CBD) is an approved treatment for childhood epilepsies and a candidate treatment for several other CNS disorders. However, it has poor oral bioavailability. We investigated the effect of a novel lipid formulation on its absorption in humans and on its tissue distribution in mice.

In open-angle glaucoma, the increase in intraocular pressure (IOP) is caused by an increased resistance to aqueous humour outflow in the trabecular meshwork. Since genetic variability of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) genes may influence extracellular matrix remodelling, we investigated their association with glaucoma risk and/or response to treatment. The retrospective part of the study included patients with primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension (OHT); in the prospective part of the study, newly diagnosed patients with POAG or OHT were randomised to receive either latanoprost or selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) as the initial treatment.

() was extracted using fermented ethanol. The effect of fermented ethanol extract of (FeCH) on chondrocyte viability was analyzed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-iphenyltetrazolium bromide assay, which showed no cytotoxicity at 2 mg/mL. FeCH pretreatment in IL-1β-stimulated chondrocytes significantly inhibited the accumulation of nitric oxide and prostaglandin E, which was analyzed using the ELISA assay.

Osteoporosis, a common metabolic bone disorder, leads to increased fracture risk and significant morbidity, particularly in postmenopausal women and the elderly. Traditional treatments often fail to fully restore bone health and may cause side effects, prompting the exploration of regenerative therapies. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) offer potential for osteoporosis treatment, but their natural inclination toward adipogenic rather than osteogenic differentiation poses a challenge.
