Objective: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is among the most resource-intensive therapies in critical care. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the lack of ECMO resource allocation tools. We aimed to develop a continuous ECMO risk prediction model to enhance patient triage and resource allocation.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) involves persistent inflammation in the colon and rectum, with excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. This ROS buildup damages colonic epithelial cells and disrupts intestinal flora, worsening disease progression. Current antioxidant therapies are limited due to their instability in the gut and lack of targeting, hindering precise intervention at the lesion site.

The oxygenases are essential in the bioremediation of xenobiotic pollutants. To overcome cultivability constraints, this study aims to identify new potential extradiol dioxygenases using the functional metagenomics approach. RW1-4CC, a novel catechol 2,3-dioxygenase, was isolated using functional metagenomics approach, expressed in a heterologous system, and characterized thoroughly using state-of-the-art techniques.

This study aimed to investigate whether driving pressure-guided ventilation can reduce postoperative pulmonary complications in patients who have undergone heart transplantation. Patients who underwent orthotopic heart transplantation were divided into two groups according to the perioperative ventilation strategy: (1) conventional lung-protective ventilation (group C) and (2) driving pressure-guided ventilation (group D). The primary outcome was the occurrence of postoperative pulmonary complications within 30 days of surgery.
