Background: Accidental hypothermia is associated with increased morbidity and mortality and poses a significant challenge for both professional and volunteer rescue services in prehospital settings. This study investigated the methods and equipment available to treat patients with cold stress or accidental hypothermia before reaching hospital in Norway.
Methods: We surveyed 156 respondents representing 708 units from both the professional and volunteer Norwegian prehospital chain of care between 2023 and 2024.

The textile industry is one of the largest water consumers, and, as a result of its activity, it generates tons of wastewater. In this research, forward osmosis has been employed to tackle the critical need of treating textile wastewater. The HFFO2 membrane (Aquaporin) was used to process large volumes of real cotton dyeing wastewater, wool dyeing wastewater, and several types of textile end-of-pipe wastewater.

Diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, glaucoma, and contrast-related eye diseases are well-recognized conditions resulting from high blood pressure, rising blood glucose, and elevated eye pressure. Later-stage symptoms usually include patches of cotton wool, restricted veins in the optic nerve, and buildup of blood in the optic nerve. Severe consequences include damage of the visual nerve, and retinal artery obstruction, and possible blindness may result from these conditions.

Neuroinflammation plays an important role in the pathological cascade of Alzheimer's disease (AD) along with aggregation of extracellular amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and intracellular aggregates of tau protein. In animal models of amyloidosis, local immune activation is centered around Aβ plaques, which are usually of uniform morphology, dependent on the transgenic model used. In postmortem human brains a diversity of Aβ plaque morphologies is seen including diffuse plaques (non-neuritic plaques, non-NP), dense-core plaques, cotton-wool plaques, and NP.
