We propose a generalization of the model of classical baker map on the torus, in which the images of two parts of the phase space do overlap. This transformation is irreversible and cannot be quantized by means of a unitary Floquet operator. A corresponding quantum system is constructed as a completely positive map acting in the space of density matrices. We investigate spectral properties of this superoperator and their link with the increase of the entropy of initially pure states.

Multiple image encryption algorithm using channel randomization and multiple chaotic maps.

Sci Rep

December 2024

Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computers and Information, Suez University, P.O. Box 43221, Suez, Egypt.

Developing robust and secure image encryption methods for transmitting multiple images in batches over unprotected networks has become imperative. This necessity arises from the limitations of single-image encryption techniques in managing the escalating volume of extensive data. This paper introduces a novel three-layer multiple-image encryption (MIE) technique to encrypt batch images based on three 2D-chaotic maps.

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) is a multisensory experience most often associated with feelings of relaxation and altered consciousness, elicited by stimuli which include whispering, repetitive movements, and close personal attention. Since 2015, ASMR research has grown rapidly, spanning disciplines from neuroscience to media studies but lacking a collaborative or interdisciplinary approach. To build a cohesive and connected structure for ASMR research moving forwards, a modified Delphi study was conducted with ASMR experts, practitioners, community members, and researchers from various disciplines.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the prevalence of in-person visits and virtual communication methods (like phone and video calls) in ICUs across Australia and New Zealand, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Findings revealed that 77% of ICUs had visiting restrictions, with a significantly reduced median visiting time of 9 hours per day, resulting in only 65% of patients receiving in-person visits.
  • The majority of in-person visits were for family interaction, while telephone calls were primarily for clinical updates, with visit patterns showing higher activity during daytime hours rather than the evening.

Using a systems thinking approach to map the global rise of ultra-processed foods in population diets.

Obes Rev

Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition, Institute for Health Transformation, Deakin University, Burwood, Australia.

A key driver of obesity and diet-related illness globally has been the increased consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs). This paper aimed to identify the key actors, structures, incentives, and dynamics that characterize the global UPF system and have led to the dominance of UPFs in population diets. Based on a narrative review and using a systems thinking approach, we developed a causal loop diagram (CLD) of the global UPF system.

Donor pulmonary hemodynamics does not impact recipient outcomes in adult heart transplantation.

Int J Cardiol

February 2025

Hartford HealthCare Heart and Vascular Institute, Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT, USA. Electronic address:

Purpose: The impact of donor pulmonary hemodynamics as assessed by mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) and transpulmonary gradients (TPG) on the clinical outcome of heart transplant (HT) recipients is unknown. We compared outcomes of adult HT recipients as stratified by donor pulmonary hemodynamics in the contemporary era in the United States.

Methods: We reviewed adult donor hearts (age ≥ 18 years) which were offered for transplantation between January 2010 and March 2023 in the UNOS database with available right heart catheterization (RHC) data.
