Immunocytochemical and molecular biological methods to analyze minimal residual disease (MRD) in colorectal cancer in blood and bone marrow were compared. The concept of a study in the Donauspital will be presented which will permit a comparative judgement of minimal residual disease in blood and bone marrow in patients with colorectal cancer.

Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a hematologic malignancy caused by clonally expanded plasma cells that produce a monoclonal immunoglobulin (M-protein), a personalized biomarker. Recently, we developed an ultra-sensitive mass spectrometry method to quantify minimal residual disease (MS-MRD) by targeting unique M-protein peptides. Therapeutic antibodies (t-Abs), key in MM treatment, often lead to deep and long-lasting responses.

Ensuring the mechanical performance of backfill materials while reducing cementation costs is a key challenge in mine backfill research. To address this, fiber materials such as polypropylene (PP) fiber and rice straw (RS) fiber have been incorporated into cement-based mixtures for mine backfilling. This study investigates the effects of PP and RS fibers on the mechanical properties, flow characteristics, and microstructure of Tailings and Wasted Stone Mixed Backfill (TWSMB).

Welding-induced residual stress has the capacity to significantly compromise the integrity of mechanical components. Its minimization therefore plays a critical role in the selection of process parameters during the welding process. Friction stir welding is a useful joining technique to weld many materials that are not amenable to the traditional welding techniques.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving role of minimal residual disease (MRD) for patients with Colon Cancer (CC). Currently, the standard of care for patients with non-metastatic CC is adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) for all patients with stage III and high-risk stage II CC following surgical intervention. Despite a 5-20% improvement in long-term survival outcomes, this approach also results in a significant proportion of patients receiving ACT without any therapeutic benefit and being unnecessarily exposed to the risks of secondary side effects.

Esophageal cancer (EC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths globally. Surgery is the standard treatment for resectable EC after preoperative chemoradiotherapy or chemotherapy, followed by postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in certain cases. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and computed tomography (CT) are predominantly performed to evaluate the efficacy of these treatments, but their sensitivity and accuracy for evaluating minimal residual disease remain unsatisfactory, thereby requiring the development of alternative methods.
