Mitragyna ciliata is widely used in traditional medicine for the treatment of inflammation, hypertension, headache, rheumatism, gonorrhoea and broncho-pulmonary diseases. In the present study, the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of the stem bark extract of M. ciliata were investigated. The stem bark of this plant was extracted over Soxhlet with hexane followed by another extraction with methanol. The resulting methanol extract was used for the pharmacological test. Anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated on the basis of the inhibitory effect of the extract on 5-lipoxygenase, and carrageenin-induced hind paw oedema in the rat. The methanol extract, at a dose of 19.2 microg/ml, exhibited no inhibition on 5-lipoxygenase. However, this extract administered per os (50 mg/kg) produced about 70% inhibition of carrageenin-induced paw oedema 1 h after administration. This inhibition was maintained to about 50% 2 h after administration. The dose of 50 mg/kg of MeOH extract significantly decreased sensitivity to pain from 78.75 to 107.5 g These findings suggest that extracts of the bark of M. ciliata, possess potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Chemical analysis of the extract showed the presence of alkaloids and kaempferol derivative which may be responsible for the anti-inflammatory properties.

Neuropathic pain is a disorder affecting the somatosensory nervous system. However, this condition is also characterized by significant neuroinflammation, primarily involving CNS-resident non-neuronal cells. A promising target for developing new analgesics is histamine H receptor (HR); thus, we aimed to determine the influence of a novel HR antagonist/inverse agonist, E-98 (1-(7-(4-chlorophenoxy)heptyl)-3-methylpiperidine), on pain symptoms and glia activation in model of neuropathic pain in male mice (chronic constriction injury to the sciatic nerve).

Background: Preeclampsia significantly impacts maternal and perinatal health. Early screening using advanced models and primary prevention with low-dose acetylsalicylic acid for high-risk populations is crucial to reduce the disease's incidence. This study assesses the feasibility of implementing preterm preeclampsia screening and prevention by leveraging information from our current aneuploidy screening program in a real-world setting with geographic separation clinical site and laboratory analysis site.

This study evaluated the impact of aspirin on the biochemical recurrence (BCR) rate following robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) in patients. A database search identified patients who underwent RARP for pT2-3N0M0 disease at any of 25 centers between 2011 and 2022, categorized into aspirin (n = 350) and control groups (n = 5857). Adjustment by 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) and Mahalanobis distance matching (MDM) created 350 matched pairs.

Kaurane-class diterpenoid alkaloids (DAs), an important group of C20-DAs, include mainly veatchine-, napelline-, anopterine- and tricalysiamide-type DAs and several types of DAs with novel skeletons discovered in recent years. To date, approximately 81 compounds belonging to this class of DAs have been isolated from plants in 5 families and 7 genera. Among them, Aconitum is the most important source of this class of DAs.
