We assessed the clinical impact of MMP-9 expression on long-term survival in patients with operable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Primary tumors of 143 consecutive patients with NSCLC resected completely and without overt distant metastases (pT1-4, pN0-2, M0, R0) were examined for MMP-9 expression using immunohistochemistry with a polyclonal, affinity-purified rabbit antibody that recognizes both latent and active MMP-9. Immunohistochemical staining of tumor cells was evaluated in comparison to normal bronchiolar epithelium that served as an internal positive control. MMP-9 expression was categorized into negative,

Demyelination is commonly observed in neurodegenerative disorders, including multiple sclerosis (MS). Biotin supplementation is known to stabilize MS progression. To reduce the effective dose of biotin, we synthesized a new and superior form of biotin, a complex of magnesium ionically bound to biotin (MgB) and compared its dose-dependent effect with biotin alone after inducing demyelination using lysolecithin (LPC) in rats.

Oncolytic viral-based therapy and specific gene expression by promoters are modern targeted oncotherapy approaches that have gained significant attention in recent years. In this study, both strategies were combined by designing cancer-specific activation of vesicular stomatitis virus matrix expression under the survivin promoter. The matrix sequence was cloned downstream of the survivin promoter (pM).

Amyloid-beta clearance plays a key role In the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. However, the variation in functional proteins involved in amyloid-beta clearance and their correlation with amyloid-beta levels remain unclear. In this study, we conducted meta-analyses and a systematic review using studies from the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases, including journal articles published from inception to June 30, 2023.

Tumor microenvironment (TME) takes an essential part in the bladder cancer progression, which is associated with intercellular cross-talk between stroma cells and cancer. We aimed use bioinformatics tools to analyze tumor microenvironment remodeling in bladder cancer. CIBERSORT and ESTIMATE are bioinformatics tools based on deconvolution for calculating proportions of tumor-infiltrating immune cells and stromal components in TME.

Coralyne (COR) is a protoberberine-like isoquinoline alkaloid, and it is known for double-stranded (ds) DNA intercalation and topoisomerase inhibition. It can also sensitize cancer cells through various mechanisms. COR reduces the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells by inhibiting the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9).
