Objective: To determine the visual outcome and incidence of complications after posterior capsule rupture during phacoemulsification.

Methods: Sixty-six eyes of 66 patients which sustained posterior capsule rupture were retrospectively studied.

Result: Fifty-two out of 66 eyes had best corrected visual acuity of 20/40 or better. The complications included corneal edema (42 eyes), iris injury (1 eye), pupil decentration (5 eyes), intraocular hypertension (4 eyes), intraocular lens dislocation (1 eye), cystoid macular edema (3 eyes), remain of lens material (2 eyes) and retinal detachment (2 eyes).

Conclusions: Phacoemulsification, even if complicated by posterior capsule rupture, is compatible with good visual outcome. Immediate proper management of complications is important.

Purpose: The research investigates the efficacy of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) treatment in facilitating the development of compact water droplets on the rear surface of synthetic lenses with capsule imperfections during the process of fluid-air exchange.

Method: This study examined four patients with intraocular lens (IOL) implants and posterior capsule defects who experienced the formation of dense water droplets on the posterior surface following fluid-air exchange. When this occurrence obstructs fundus visualization during surgery, it is recommended to suspend the surgical procedure.

Background: Damage to brain white matter often occurs in individuals with chronic kidney disease, which might be related to their cognitive decline. This study aims to investigate tract-specific white matter damage in patients with end-stage kidney disease by using fixel-based analysis.

Methods: Images of 31 end-stage kidney disease patients and 16 normal controls (aged: 61.

This study aims to analyze the prevalence and severity of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and glistening in a new hydrophobic biaspheric monofocal intraocular lens (IOLs) 24 months after implantation. By means of a ambispective, observational, case-control design, a total of 297 eyes from 200 cataract surgery patients were included in the study (118 females and 82 males; mean age: 72.31 ± 9.

Background: There are differences in the extent of excision of articular processes, spinal processes and posterior ligamentum complexes (PLC) for posterior approach lumbar interbody fusion. Given that the biomechanical significance of these structures has been verified and that deterioration of the biomechanical environment is the main trigger for complications in both fused and adjacent motion segments, changes in decompression ranges may affect the potential risk of adjacent segmental disease (ASD) biomechanically; however, this topic has yet to be identified.

Methods: Posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) with different decompression strategies was simulated in a well-validated lumbosacral model.

Remplissage is a procedure that decreases the rate of recurrent instability after arthroscopic stabilization in patients with an engaging Hill-Sachs lesion. This technique involves capsulotenodesis of the infraspinatus tendon and posterior capsule into the Hill-Sachs lesion using 2 knotless anchors with suture passage through the infraspinatus tendon guided by a percutaneous needle. Previously described techniques use knots or anchor placement through the infraspinatus, which can be challenging to control and irreversible if tendon penetration occurs in an undesirable location.
