A series of new donor-pi-acceptor type compounds with trivalent boron as acceptor which show strong two-photon excited up-conversion fluorescence have been synthesized and one crystal structure described.

The widespread use of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets has raised concerns about the environmental impact of their disposal, prompting the need for sustainable recycling strategies. Traditional solvents used in recycling are toxic and flammable, making them risky to use. Ionic liquids are safer and greener options with low vapor pressure, high stability, and less flammability.

In this work, trivalent rare earth (RE)-rich borate glasses (30 LaO-70 BO, 50 LaO-50 BO, 60 LaO-40 BO, and 50 YO-50 BO) were modeled using ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations through the melt-quenching route. It was found that the AIMD-derived structures reproduced the experimental structure factors and B solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance data. Isolated borate units (monomers, dimers, and trimers) terminated with nonbridging oxygen were found in the structures.

Imidazo-fused diazaborines, which serve as intermediary structures somewhat alongside benzene and borazine, had been of particular interest to Dewar and Snyder more than 60 years ago. To this end, Dewar utilised his 'π-'so as to represent ''as a '' species; however, sadly, modern representations have deviated and leapt into '' counterparts. Bonding in boron species has never been straightforward, to such an extent that the orthodox '' like diborane, , HB-BH, which conformed to the paradigmatic rules of molecular structure, in particular, hybridisation and electronegativity, was later evolved to a more realistic '' bonding so as to give the lie to the purported diborane structures of X-ray diffractors.

Triarylboranes (TABs) have been employed as colorimetric and/or fluorometric anion sensors. The majority of TAB-based anion sensors exhibit blue-shift modes of absorption and photoluminescence (PL) or turn off of PL, attributed to the intrinsic electronic polarity of the trivalent boron unit in their molecular designs. In this Concept article, I introduce a novel approach to modulating the photophysical properties of TABs toward a red-shift mode by balancing the dual, opposing roles of the amine-bridged TAB (phenazaborine).

The feasibility of using hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) to treat heavy metal Cr(III) from model contaminated groundwater was evaluated in this study by adsorption experiments and characterizations. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first attempt to conduct the adsorption of Cr(III) by h-BN under various experimental conditions such as exposure time, ratio of adsorbates and adsorbents, solution pH, background ions with different ionic strength, and the presence of humic acids (HA) in model contaminated groundwater. The optimized h-BN showed excellent maximum adsorption capacity (i.
