Aging has a detrimental impact on white matter, resulting in reduced volume, compromised structural integrity of myelinated axons, and an increase in white matter hyperintensities. These changes are closely linked to cognitive decline and neurological disabilities. The deterioration of myelin and its diminished ability to regenerate as we age further contribute to the progression of neurodegenerative disorders.

The secondary insult in the aftermath of traumatic brain injury (TBI) causes detrimental and self-perpetuating alteration in cells, resulting in aberrant function and the death of neuronal cells. The secondary insult is mainly driven by activation of the neuroinflammatory pathway. Among several classical pathways, the cGAS-STING pathway, a primary neuroinflammatory route, encompasses the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS), stimulator of interferon genes (STING), and downstream signaling adaptor.

Objective: Stress processes have long been of interest to researchers. A growing body of research explores the bidirectional relations between stressors, psychological and physical states. However, research on stress processes and their individual differences from a dynamic systems perspective is still lacking.

Introduction: Atrial remodelling (AR) is the persistent change in atrial structure and/or function and contributes to the initiation, maintenance and progression of atrial fibrillation (AF) in a reciprocal self-perpetuating relationship. Left atrial (LA) size, geometry, fibrosis, wall thickness (LAWT) and ejection fraction (LAEF) have all been shown to vary with pathological atrial remodelling. The association of these global remodelling markers with each other for differentiating structural phenotypes in AF is not well investigated.

While there is research into how medical students cognitively engage in clinical learning, there is limited work on clinical experiences using a social theoretical lens such as situated learning theory.
Method: This study explored third year medical students' lived experience as newcomers to clinical teams using a qualitative phenomenological approach.
