Purpose: To reveal the etiopathogenic features of the noninfectious uveitis after extracapsular lens extraction, with or without artificial lens implantation.
Method: A retrospective study including 33 patients with noninfectious uveitis after extracapsular lens extraction with or without artificial lens implantation has been performed. The patients have been selected exclusively according to clinical criteria.
Result: In 27 patients (80.80%), risk factors for the postoperative uveitis have been identified. Among these, the most frequently incriminated has been the operation itself (14 cases--42.42%), with the persistence of cortical material on the first place: 10 cases (30.30%).
Conclusion: The unfavourable evolution of the uveitis has been associated with the following risk factors: previous uveitis, the incorrect position of the artificial lens, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes mellitus.

Purpose: To clarify the characteristics of intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation requiring IOL suture or intraocular scleral fixation.
Methods: This retrospective consecutive case series included 21 eyes (21 patients) who required sutured or sutureless intrascleral IOL fixation following IOL extraction owing to IOL dislocation at the outpatient clinic in the Department of Ophthalmology, Saitama Red Cross Hospital, Japan, between January and December 2019. Medical records were retrospectively reviewed for background diseases, location of the dislocated IOL (intracapsular/extracapsular), insertion of a capsular tension ring (CTR), and the period from IOL insertion to dislocation.

Background: This prospective experimental study was conducted on 40 eyes of 40 patients with complicated uveitic cataracts to compare a single intraoperative intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA) with oral steroids for inflammation control after cataract extraction.
Methods: The IVTA group (19 eyes) received an intravitreal injection of 4 mg/0.1 ml triamcinolone acetonide intraoperatively, and the oral steroid group (19 eyes) received oral steroids peri-operatively.

A 2-year-old female mixed-breed canine patient from Namibia presented originally with chronic uveitis. A serum antibody titer and a PCR test performed on the aqueous humor were positive for encephalitozoon cuniculi. The left eye showed an immature anterior focal cortical cataract in the periphery with suspected lens capsule rupture and signs of chronic uveitis.
