Background/objectives: Clofazimine (CFZ) is a Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) II drug introduced in the US market in 1986 for the treatment of leprosy. However, CFZ was later withdrawn from the market due to its extremely low aqueous solubility and low absorption. In the literature, the intrinsic solubility of CFZ has been estimated to be <0.

Background: Bone metastasis (BM) is a common and fatal condition in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). However, there are no useful blood biomarkers for CRPC with BM, and the mechanism underlying BM is unclear. In this study, we investigated precise blood biomarkers for evaluating BM that can improve the prognosis of patients with CRPC.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the risk of developing dementia associated with different anticholinergic drugs prescribed for overactive bladder among older adults in England.
  • Utilizing data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink, researchers conducted a nested case-control study involving over 170,000 patients diagnosed with dementia, alongside matched controls without dementia.
  • Results indicated a slightly elevated risk of dementia (odds ratio of 1.18) linked to anticholinergic drug use, with a higher risk observed in men compared to women.

Leptin, a hormone secreted by adipose tissue, plays a pivotal role in maintaining energy metabolism and bone quality. Dysregulation of leptin can lead to the development of various pathological conditions. For example, the concentration of leptin is increased in individuals with obesity, and this increased concentration is positively correlated with higher bone mass.
