Low phosphorus (P) use efficiency significantly impacts rice yields. An environmentally friendly approach to increase phosphorus absorption and utilization in rice involves the exploration of phosphorus-solubilizing fungal resources. This study aimed to isolate and characterize fungal strains from the rice rhizosphere and assess their phosphate solubilization capabilities, plant-growth-promoting (PGP) traits, and mechanisms involved.

Background: This study evaluated in vitro antigiardial activity in four Indonesian plants (Archidendron fagifolium, Diospyros sumatrana, Piper betle and Shorea sumatrana) extracted in methanol, methanol-tetrahydrofuran, and water. These plants exhibiting promising anti-parasitic activity were selected on the basis of collected behavioral data and their ability to decrease parasite load in Sumatran orangutans. Extracts of Arabidopsis thaliana, a plant routinely used as a laboratory model in research, were used as a negative control.

Endophytes are bacteria that inhabit host plants for most of their life cycle without causing harm. In the study, 15 endophytic bacteria were isolated from 30 forage Sorghum plants and assessed for various plant growth-promoting (PGP) traits, such as phosphate solubilization, 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase activity, ammonia production, siderophore production, gibberellic acid production, Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) production, and zinc solubilization. One isolate, JJG_Zn, demonstrated multiple PGP activities and was identified as Enterobacter sp.

Photoperiodic regulation of flowering time plays a critical role in plant reproductive success and crop yield. In Arabidopsis thaliana, the expression of the CONSTANS (CO) gene is closely regulated by day length and is modulated by both environmental and endogenous cues for precise control over flowering. Our findings reveal that the phytohormone brassinosteroid (BR) pathway represses flowering by inhibiting the expression of both CO and Flowering Locus T (FT).

A key feature of stress responses [closely relative to the phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA)] and associated acclimation in plants is the dynamic adjustments and related optimisation of carbohydrate content between sink and source organs. The production of stomata, which consist of a pore between two adjacent guard cells, are central to plant adaptation to changing environment conditions. In this context, ABA is a core modulator of environmentally determined stomatal development.
