Normalization Based on Shift and Ion Intensity in SALDI-TOFMS Imaging of Samples with Non-Horizontal Surface.

Mass Spectrom (Tokyo)

December 2024

Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Toyama Prefectural University, 5180 Kurokawa, Imizu-City, Toyama 939-0398, Japan.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI), surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization (SALDI), and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOFMS) imaging are used for visualizing the spatial distribution of analytes. Mass spectrometry (MS) imaging of a sample with a rough surface with a uniform distribution of an analyte does not provide uniform ion intensities in the image. A shift in the value of the analyte ions is also observed.

Behavioral endpoints are of increasing interest in toxicology because of their sensitivity, but require clear guidance for experimental design. This study describes the design of a hypoxia chamber for use with pond snails, . Studies assessing the switch from water- to air-breathing in hypoxic conditions have previously utilized methods that neglect intricacies of animal behavior such as handling stress and acclimation.

Genetic profiling of Wilson disease reveals a potential recurrent pathogenic variant of ATP7B in the Jordanian population.

J Pediatr Gastroenterol Nutr

January 2025

Department of Pathology and Microbiology and Forensic Medicine, School of Medicine, The University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan.

Objectives: Wilson disease (WD) is an autosomal-recessive disorder that disrupts copper homeostasis. ATPase copper transporting beta (ATP7B) gene is implicated as the disease-causing gene in WD. The common symptoms associated with WD include hepatic, neurological, psychiatric, and ophthalmic manifestations.

Control of Two Solid Electrolyte Interphases at the Negative Electrode of an Anode-Free All Solid-State Battery based on Argyrodite Electrolyte.

Adv Mater

January 2025

Materials Science and Engineering Program, Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering and Texas Materials Institute, The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX, 78712, USA.

Anode-free all solid-state batteries (AF-ASSBs) employ "empty" current collector with three active interfaces that determine electrochemical stability; lithium metal - Solid electrolyte (SE) interphase (SEI-1), lithium - current collector interface, and collector - SE interphase (SEI-2). Argyrodite LiPSCl (LPSCl) solid electrolyte (SE) displays SEI-2 containing copper sulfides, formed even at open circuit. Bilayer of 140 nm magnesium/30 nm tungsten (Mg/W-Cu) controls the three interfaces and allows for state-of-the-art electrochemical performance in half-cells and fullcells.

This study has successfully prepared three kinds of surface enhanced raman scattering (SERS) substrates, namely AgNP/CuNPs/Bragg-PSi (porous silicon, PSi), AgNPs/CuNPs/PSi and AuNPs/CuNPs/Bragg-PSi by use of an anode electrochemical etching method and a dip plating method. Results show that: the AgNPs/CuNPs/Bragg-PSi substrate has optimal SERS performance and is capable of detecting the Raman spectrum ( = 0.9315) of a 10 M-10 M crystal violet (CV) solution.
