Published: January 2003

A new method, using high-performance liquid chromatography/ion electrospray (negative ion) mass spectrometry, has been developed for the determination of a hydrophilic liver-specific inhibitor of the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase, pravastatin in human plasma. In this method, plasma samples were prepared by a solid-phase extraction on C(18) Bond Elut cartridge. Chromatography was carried out with a Zorbax C(8) column. Simple isocratic chromatography conditions were used. The method has been validated in a linear range of 0.25-300 ng/ml with a coefficient of variation of 0.6-3.4%. The overall recovery was 90.5% for pravastatin and 90.8% for the internal standard beta-hydroxy-lovastatin. The method is simple and reliable with a total run time of less than 2 min.

The phytochemical profile of various plant species reveals that some compounds possess notable antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. In this study we investigated for the first time, the antioxidant activity (FRAP, DPPH and TAC), total phenolic contents and total flavonoid contents of Delile ex Godr flowers extracts (-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol) as well as their antimicrobial activity. The results obtained showed that the methanol extract contained the highest content of total phenolics (346.

Acute liver injury (ALI) is a prevalent and potentially lethal condition globally, where pharmacotherapy plays a vital role. However, challenges such as rapid drug excretion and insufficient concentration at hepatic lesions often impede the treatment's effectiveness. We successfully prepared glycyrrhizinate monoammonium cysteine (GMC)-loaded lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) using high-pressure homogenization.

: Since 2008, following clinical studies conducted on children that revealed the ability of the β-adrenergic antagonist propranolol to inhibit capillary growth in infantile hemangiomas (IHs), its oral administration has become the first-line treatment for IHs. Although oral propranolol therapy at a dosage of 3 mg/kg/die is effective, it can cause systemic adverse reactions. This therapy is not necessarily applicable to all patients.
