This case report presents a patient with M4 leukemia with signs and symptoms of acute sensorineural hearing loss. The patient's MRI demonstrated high signal on unenhanced T1-weighted images within the left vestibulocochlear complex that was consistent with subacute hemorrhage. Follow-up MRI showed clearing of the previously seen high T1-weighted signal from the left vestibulocochlear complex. This case report documents for the first time the MRI findings of vestibulocochlear complex hemorrhage in a leukemic patient.

Schwannomas (SCs) are benign tumors composed of neoplastic Schwann cells and are relatively uncommon intracranially. Although these tumors are frequently associated with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), they may also arise idiopathically, and their pathogenesis remains poorly understood. A 70-year-old Caucasian man presented with a two-month history of vertigo, gait imbalance, and decreased visual acuity in the left eye accompanied by photophobia, nausea, vomiting, and occasional headaches.

Background: Vestibular schwannomas (VS) are complex and heterogeneous human tumors arising from the Schwann cell compartment of the vestibulocochlear nerve. VS cause significant neurological deficit such as hearing loss and vestibular impairment, and in some cases death due to brainstem compression. There is an urgent need to find pharmacotherapies for VS since surgical removal and stereotactic radiosurgery are the only effective treatments.

Leptomeningeal disease (LMD) is a rare yet serious complication of advanced malignancy, often seen in breast cancer and associated with a poor prognosis. This case report highlights the rapid progression and diagnostic challenges encountered in a woman in her 40s with advanced breast cancer who presented with severe headaches, absence seizures, and diplopia. The patient's complex past history included invasive ductal carcinoma, prior brain metastasis, and recent craniotomy, which added significant challenges to diagnosis and management.

Additionally, we systematically searched the literature to identify citations on vascular and brain stem complications following VS surgery. We excluded the articles related to facial and vestibulocochlear nerve-related complications and other complications, such as headache, tinnitus, and ataxia.

The middle ear, comprised of the tympanic cavity, ossicles, and Eustachian tube, develops from the first and second branchial arches and clefts.
