Background: No clinical trials have compared the efficacy and safety of beta-lactam antibiotics and fluoroquinolones in acute uncomplicated bacterial tonsillitis. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of co-amoxiclav (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid), cefpodoxime proxetil, and levofloxacin monotherapy in patients with acute uncomplicated bacterial tonsillitis.
Methods: This was a prospective, open-label, parallel-group study where 90 patients with acute uncomplicated bacterial tonsillitis were equally divided into three groups to receive either tablet co-amoxiclav 625 mg thrice daily, tablet cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg twice daily, or tablet levofloxacin 500 mg once daily for five days.
Background: Antibiomania is the manifestation of manic symptoms secondary to taking an antibiotic, which is a rare side effect. In these cases, the antibiotics most often incriminated are macrolides and quinolones, but to our knowledge, there are no published cases of antibiomania secondary to cotrimoxazole. Furthermore, we also provide an update of pharmacovigilance data concerning antibiomania through a search of the World Health Organization (WHO) database.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease caused by (MTB). Tuberculous granuloma is the central and key pathological structure of tuberculosis and is characterized by tissue hypoxia and ineffective drug delivery. To address these issues, this study fabricated a composite nanoparticle loaded with catalase (CAT) and levofloxacin (LEV) (CAT@LEV-NPs) and then combined it with ultrasound (US) to investigate the bactericidal effect and underlying mechanisms using TB spheroids.

This study explores the development and characterization of spray-dried composite microparticles consisting of levofloxacin (LVX, a broad-spectrum antibiotic), and ambroxol (AMB, a mucolytic agent that has antibacterial and antibiofilm properties), for the intended application of the drug against lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs). A range of LVX to AMB mass ratios (1:1, 1:0.5, and 1:0.
