The burdens of cardiovascular (CV) diseases and cardiotoxic side effects of cancer treatment in oncology patients are increasing in parallel. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) 2022 Cardio-Oncology guidelines recommend the use of standardized risk stratification tools to determine the risk of cardiotoxicity associated with different anticancer treatment modalities and the severity of their complications. The use of the Heart Failure Association-International Cardio-Oncology Society (HFA-ICOS) is essential for assessing risk prior to starting cancer treatment, and validation of these methods has been performed in patients receiving anthracyclines, human epidermal receptor 2 (HER2)-targeted therapies and breakpoint cluster region-abelson oncogene locus (BCR-ABL) inhibitors.

: The aim of this study was to assess whether aerobic exercise, as opposed to resistance training or a combination of both, is associated with long-term cardiovascular outcomes. : The ATTICA study is a population-based cohort study with a 20-year follow-up (2002-2022); it was conducted in the Attica region, Greece, and included 3042 adult participants (45 ± 11 years, 1518 females). Physical activity engagement in aerobic, resistance, or combined exercise, and 20-year tracking, together with information regarding atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) incidence were available for 1988 participants (45 ± 12 years old, 987 males, 1001 females).

This study assessed the therapeutic effectiveness of a single-pill combination (SPC) of olmesartan/amlodipine plus rosuvastatin for blood pressure (BP) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with hypertension and dyslipidemia. Adult patients with hypertension and dyslipidemia who were decided to be treated with the study drug were eligible. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients who achieved BP, LDL-C and both BP and LDL-C treatment goals at weeks 24-48.

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS), composed mainly of renin, angiotensin, and aldosterone, is a key endocrine pathway involved in cardiovascular activity regulation. Under physiological conditions, the RAS plays a vital role in water and salt metabolism, blood pressure regulation, and electrolyte balance. Angiotensin II (Ang II) is the most important active component of the RAS, and its receptors are concentrated in vascular, pulmonary, cardiac, and renal tissues in vivo.
