Objectives: The aims of the study are to predict lung function impairment in patients with connective tissue disease (CTD)-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) through computed tomography (CT) quantitative analysis parameters based on CT deep learning model and density threshold method and to assess the severity of the disease in patients with CTD-ILD.

Methods: We retrospectively collected chest high-resolution CT images and pulmonary function test results from 105 patients with CTD-ILD between January 2021 and December 2023 (patients staged according to the gender-age-physiology [GAP] system), including 46 males and 59 females, with a median age of 64 years. Additionally, we selected 80 healthy controls (HCs) with matched sex and age, who showed no abnormalities in their chest high-resolution CT.

[Switch after Switch. Ventricular retraining as alternative to heart transplant].

Andes Pediatr

October 2024

Departamento de Cardiopatías Congénitas y Pediátricas, Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia, Santander, Colombia.

Unlabelled: Transposition of the great arteries (Dextro-TGA), repaired with physiological correction techniques (atrial switch - Mustard or Senning surgery), can present as a complication the failure of the right ventricle that acts as systemic and, at the same time, deconditioning of the left ventricle, leading to congestive heart failure. In these patients, treatment and recovery options are very limited.

Objective: To describe successful late anatomical correction after ventricular retraining.

Introduction And Objectives: The fractional exhaled fraction of nitric oxide (FeNO) is used in clinical practice for asthma diagnosis, phenotyping, and therapeutic management. Therefore, accurate thresholds are crucial. The normal FeNO values over lifespan in a respiratory healthy population and the factors related to them remain unclear.

Autophagy is a conservative process of self degradation, in which abnormal organelles, proteins and other macromolecules are encapsulated and transferred to lysosomes for subsequent degradation. It maintains the intracellular balance, and responds to cellular conditions such as hunger or stress. To date, there are mainly three types of autophagy: macroautophagy, microautophagy and chaperone-mediated autophagy.

An mRNA vaccine induces antimycobacterial immunity by activating DNA damage repair and autophagy.

Department of Microbiology, School of Life Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai 200438, China.

Effective vaccines are urgently needed for the control of tuberculosis (TB). Here, we report that an mRNA TB vaccine is highly effective and exhibits both prophylactic and therapeutic activity in the zebrafish model of TB. Adult zebrafish immunized with the mRNA vaccine survived significantly longer after challenge compared to those immunized with the DNA vaccine.
