The striatum has long been known to be involved in the control of motor behavior, since disruption of dopamine-mediated function in this brain structure is directly linked to Parkinson's disease and other disorders of movement. However, it is now accepted that both dorsal and ventral striatal nuclei are also essential for a variety of cognitive processes, which depend on reward-based stimulus-response learning. Since the neuroanatomical and neurochemical organization of dorsal and ventral striatum is only partially overlapping, it is likely that both common and nucleus-specific cellular and molecular events contribute to synaptic plasticity, learning and memory processes mediated by these cerebral structures. Alterations in cell signaling in the striatum may be particularly important in the response to both acute and chronic administration of drugs of abuse, resulting in maladaptive changes in the reward-based associative learning involved in addiction, withdrawal and relapse.

Pancreas divisum occurs during development when the ventral and dorsal buds of the pancreas do not fuse. It is the most common congenital anomaly of the pancreas. Patients with this condition are usually asymptomatic, but almost 25% of these patients experience recurrent pancreatitis, which may progress to chronic pancreatitis.

Herein, we describe a new species of perchlet found at depths of 100-125 meters in mesophotic coral ecosystems of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean. is unique in both morphology and coloration. The following combination of characters distinguishes it from all known congeners: dorsal fin X, 15; anal-fin rays III, 7; pectoral-fin rays 13 | 13 (13 | 12), all unbranched; principal caudal-fin rays 9 + 8; lateral line complete with 30-32 tubed scales; gill rakers 5 + 12; circumpeduncular scales 11-12; and absence of antrorse or retrorse spines on ventral margin of preopercle.

Objective: Recent studies have indicated a close relationship between intracranial arterial stenosis and white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), but few have reported on the correlation between the characteristics of intracranial arterial wall plaques and WMHs. The aim of this study was to comprehensively assess the correlation between intracranial atherosclerosis plaques and WMHs using 3.0T high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI).

Background: The potential pairwise connections among high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), striatum-based circuits, and anhedonia in adolescent depression are not clear. This study aimed to explore whether hs-CRP levels in adolescents with depression influence anhedonia via alterations of striatum-based functional connectivity (FC).
Methods: A total of 201 adolescents (92 with depressive episodes with anhedonia (anDE), 58 with DE without anhedonia (non-anDE), and 51 healthy controls (HCs)) underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and completed the anhedonia subscale of the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI).
