The crystal structure of the title compound, chloro(eta(5)-cyclopentadienyl)[(1R,2S)-2-[(diphenylphosphino)methylamino]-1-phenylpropyl diphenylphosphinite-kappa(2)P,P']ruthenium(II), [Ru(C(5)H(5))Cl(C(34)H(33)NOP(2))], is reported. The pseudo-octahedral complex is chiral and the configuration at the Ru atom is S. The seven-membered metallacycle adopts a boat-like conformation.

Chain Shuttling Enantioselective Polymerization: An Effective Strategy for Synthesizing Stereoblock Polythioethers.

J Am Chem Soc

Herein, we propose to synthesize stereoblock polythioethers through the chain shuttling enantioselective ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of thiiranes. The use of diastereoisomeric dinuclear Cr complexes with optimized steric hindrance allowed the production of polythioethers with both a head-to-tail content and isotacticity of >99%. In particular, the introduction of dithiols enabled the synthesis of stereoblock polythioethers via a chain shuttling process, thus producing sulfhydryl-telechelic polythioethers with tunable thermal properties.

An unusual chiral-at-metal mechanism for BINOL-metal asymmetric catalysis.

Nat Commun

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry, Key Laboratory of Mesoscopic Chemistry of Ministry of Education, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, Nanjing, China.

Chiral binaphthols (BINOL)-metal combinations serve as powerful catalysts in asymmetric synthesis. Their chiral induction mode, however, typically relies on multifarious non-covalent interactions between the substrate and the BINOL ligand. In this work, we demonstrate that the chiral-at-metal stereoinduction mode could serve as an alternative mechanism for BINOL-metal catalysis, based on mechanistic studies of BINOL-aluminum-catalyzed asymmetric hydroboration of heteroaryl ketones.

This work introduces a novel Mn(I)-catalyzed enantioselective alkylation methodology that efficiently produces a wide array of P-chiral phosphines with outstanding yields and enantioselectivities. Notably, the exceptional reactivity of Mn(I) complexes in these reactions is demonstrated by their effective catalysis with both typically reactive alkyl iodides and bromides, as well as with less reactive alkyl chlorides. This approach broadens the accessibility to various P-chiral phosphines and simplifies the synthesis of chiral tridentate pincer phosphines to a concise 1-2 step process, contrary to conventional, labor-intensive multistep procedures.

A new series of 222 adelite-type Co(GeO)(OH) ( = La-Sm) single crystals were grown by a high-temperature, high-pressure hydrothermal method (650 °C and 100 MPa). Single-crystal diffraction refinements yielded chiral one-dimensional (1D) chains of Co along the axis with an average 2.98 Å separation between Co centers in the [CoO(OH)] ribbon chains.

Precisely controlling quantum states is relevant in next-generation quantum computing, encryption, and sensing. Chiral organic chromophores host unique light-matter interactions, which allow them to manipulate the quantized circular polarization of photons. Axially chiral organic scaffolds, such as helicenes or twisted acenes, are powerful motifs in chiral light manipulation.
