Bacterial strains that are genetically engineered to constitutively produce fluorescent proteins have aided our study of bacterial physiology, biofilm formation, and interspecies interactions. Here, we report on the construction and utilization of new strains that produce the blue fluorescent protein mTagBFP2, the green fluorescent protein sfGFP, and the red fluorescent protein mScarlet-I3 in species , and . Gene fragments, developed to contain the constitutive promoter P , the fluorescent gene of interest as well as , providing resistance to the antibiotic spectinomycin, were inserted into selected open reading frames on the chromosome that were both transcriptionally silent and whose loss caused no measurable changes in fitness.

Zebrafish models of genetic epilepsy benefit from the ability to assess disease-relevant knock-out alleles with numerous tools, including genetically encoded calcium indicators (GECIs) and hypopigmentation alleles to improve visualization. However, there may be unintended effects of these manipulations on the phenotypes under investigation. There is also debate regarding the use of stable loss-of-function (LoF) alleles in zebrafish, due to genetic compensation (GC).

Background: Tranexamic acid (TXA) use has become the gold standard in total joint arthroplasty to limit intraoperative blood loss and transfusion rates. More recently, the indications for TXA have expanded to knee and shoulder arthroscopy with promising early results. However, the effectiveness of TXA during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (RCR) is unclear.

Introduction: Wavelet thresholding techniques are crucial in mitigating noise in data communication and storage systems. In image processing, particularly in medical imaging like MRI, noise reduction is vital for improving visual quality and accurate analysis. While existing methods offer noise reduction, they often suffer from limitations like edge and texture loss, poor smoothness, and the need for manual parameter tuning.

Introduction: Cervical foraminotomy is a procedure used to treat patients with radiculopathy. While the procedure can be performed using a minimally invasive technique, achieving complete visualization of relevant anatomy can be challenging. This study explores the use of patient-specific three-dimensional (3D) printed anatomical models, created from advanced medical imaging data, for preoperative planning and intraoperative guidance in cervical foraminotomy by comparing fluoroscopy time, operative time, estimated blood loss volume, and functional improvement.
