Objective: Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is characterized by upper and lower airway disease. Multiple studies have demonstrated the progression of pulmonary disease; however, longitudinal changes in the otologic and nasal symptoms have not been well described in patients. This study defines age-related prevalence, age of onset, and age-related trends in self-reported otologic and sinonasal comorbidities in individuals with PCD.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a systemic inflammatory disease impacting both the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems, with its pathogenesis closely linked to the lung-gut axis theory. In this study, we established a rat model of COPD using a fumigation method combined with intra-airway administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to investigate the effects of lactulose on lung and intestinal tissues, focusing on related inflammatory markers and the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway. We further explored the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of lactulose on the lung-intestinal tissues in COPD rats, aiming to expand its potential application in chronic respiratory diseases.

Objective: To investigate the effects of Formula (SQTSF) for alleviating airway inflammation in rats with both chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung-kidney deficiency syndrome and explore its therapeutic mechanism.
Methods: Forty-eight SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, low-, medium-, and high-dose SQTSF groups, and aminophylline (APL) group. In all but the control group, rat models of COPD with lung-kidney deficiency syndrome were established and treated with saline, SQTSF or APL daily gavage as indicated (starting from day 30).
