The genome of bovine adenovirus type 3 (BAV3) is flanked by 195-base pair (bp) inverted terminal repeats (ITR). We isolated a BAV3 mutant (BAV3c29) having an internal deletion within the left ITR. The deletion eliminated 72 bp between nucleotides (nt) 89 and 162, including most of the GC-rich sequences located close to the end of the ITR sequences. This deletion did not seem to have any affect on the virus plaque size or morphology and the kinetics of viral replication compared to wild-type (wt) BAV3. The nt sequence of the right ITR of BAV3c29 remained identical to the right or left ITR of wt BAV3. These results indicate that the cis-acting sequences present within the 72 bp between nt 89 and 162 of the left ITR are not essential for BAV3 DNA replication in cultured cells.

Objective: In the pursuit of refining P300-based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), our research aims to propose a novel stimulus design focused on selective attention and task relevance to address the challenges of P300-based BCIs, including the necessity of repetitive stimulus presentations, accuracy improvement, user variability, and calibration demands.
Approach: In the oddball task for P300-based BCIs, we develop a stimulus design involving task-relevant dynamic stimuli implemented as finger-tapping to enhance the elicitation and consistency of event-related potentials (ERPs). We further improve the performance of P300-based BCIs by optimizing ERP feature extraction and classification in offline analyses.

Thyroid tissue in teleosts is located mainly in the pharyngeal region, usually reaching other adjacent anatomical locations. Herein, a nodular lesion located in the left operculum of a Senegal seabream (Diplodus bellottii) was surgically excised and sent for microscopical evaluation. Microscopically, the lesion presented irregular borders and consisted in columnar epithelial cells arranged in a tubulopapillary pattern, surrounding a central lumen filled with acellular, acidophilic and homogeneous, material ('colloid').

Age is a prominent risk factor for cardiometabolic disease, often leading to heart structural and functional changes. However, precise molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac remodeling and dysfunction exclusively resulting from physiological aging remain elusive. Previous research demonstrated age-related functional alterations in baboons, analogous to humans.

Background & Aims: Dysregulation of iron homeostasis is associated with cardiac alterations in a sex-dependent manner in adults. It is unknown whether iron status during pregnancy has long-term impact on cardiovascular health, and if this association is influenced by sex. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate sex-specific association between maternal iron status during early pregnancy and cardiac outcomes in children aged 10 years.
