The development of a cholecystoduodenal fistula may complicate 5% of all patients with cholelithiasis. It has been theorized that a cholecystoduodenal fistula may represent a significant risk factor in the development of gallbladder carcinoma because of the chronic reflux of duodenal contents. We report the case of a patient with a cholecystoduodenal fistula and an early gallbladder cancer to support this theory. Once developed, gallbladder cancer has a very poor prognosis. Early detection with timely resection is necessary to improve the survival rate in gallbladder carcinoma patients.

Background: Open surgical debridement was the main treatment option for infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN). However, it was associated with significant trauma, leading to a higher mortality rate. With the development of minimally invasive surgery, the step-up treatment principle centered around minimally invasive intervention, significantly reducing the incidence of complications and mortality rates among IPN patients.

It is well established that host immunity plays a critical role in defending against colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. Connective tissue disease (CTD) encompasses a group of heterogeneous, immune-mediated disorders that present with diverse and often non-specific initial symptoms. Raynaud's phenomenon is a common feature, complicating early diagnosis.

Despite the widespread use of perirectal spacers to reduce radiation-induced rectal toxicity during prostate cancer treatment, postmarketing data reveal rare but significant complications. This case report details a severe complication of rectourethral fistula necessitating robotic pelvic exenteration with urinary and faecal diversion following perirectal spacer placement. Although SpaceOAR has been shown to reduce rectal radiation dose, the ensuing clinical benefit remains inconclusive in real-world data.

Horseshoe anal fistula is one of the most challenging subtypes of complex anal fistulas, closely related to the failure of anal fistula surgery and postoperative recurrence. Accurate preoperative assessment, correct classification, and appropriate surgical plans are crucial for improving treatment efficacy. This article primarily explores the clinical classification of horseshoe anal fistulas and the applicability of mainstream surgical techniques in different types of horseshoe anal fistulas, focusing on their cure rates, recurrence rates, and fecal continence, to assist surgeons to make reasonable surgical plans when treating horseshoe anal fistulas.

In recent years, although we have made significant progress in the precise diagnosis and treatment of anal fistula, we still lack a thorough and in-depth understanding about the mechanism of formation, development, nonunion and recurrence of complex anal fistula. As a result, there is still a high failure rate, recurrence rate and the risk of the fecal incontinence after treatment. There is hardly any consensus on whatever treatment options, and the various treatment also means no established standard treatment for complex anal fistula.
