Nanocrystalline Lanthanum Oxide Layers on Tubes Synthesized Using the Metalorganic Chemical Vapor Deposition Technique.

Materials (Basel)

November 2024

Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics, AGH University of Krakow, al. A. Mickiewicza 30, 30-059 Krakow, Poland.

Lanthanum oxide (LaO) layers are widely used in electronics, optics, and optoelectronics due to their properties. Lanthanum oxide is also used as a dopant, modifying and improving the properties of other materials in the form of layers, as well as having a large volume. In this work, lanthanum oxide layers were obtained using MOCVD (Metalorganic Chemical Vapor Deposition) on the inner walls of tubular substrates at 600-750 °C.

Laser-deflection-based acoustic sensing is known for high bandwidth but low sensitivity. By embedding the sensing laser within a Sagnac interferometer and incorporating split-beam detection-originally developed for optical trapping microscopy-we demonstrate sensitive acoustic detection in air with a 2 MHz bandwidth. In a direct comparison, our method far-exceeds performance metrics of a state-of-the-art, commercially-available, high-bandwidth microphone.

Early-career surgeons must be exposed to a sufficient number of surgical cases of varying complexity in a mentored environment to allow them to solidify, sustain and build on the skills gained in training. Decreased operative volumes at military treatment facilities and assignments that do not include strong mentoring environments can place military surgeons at a disadvantage relative to their civilian counterparts during this critical time following training. The challenge of lower operative volumes in the current interwar lull has been exacerbated by the decline in beneficiary care conducted within the Military Healthcare System.
