The vision of electronic health records.

The vision of computerized medical record has not been achieved in spite of major progress in understanding the process of record keeping and revolutionary improvement in computer capabilities. This article discusses the problems inherent in achieving a universally available patient record. The roadblocks include lack of buy-in by providers and their institutions, adoption of common terminology, universal computer standards and a national infrastructure to promote the dissemination of health care records. The influence of the internet on the adoption of electronic medical records and some views for the future are presented.

This research using the first-principles theory introduces Pd- and Pt-functionalized WSe monolayers as promising materials for detecting three critical gases (H, CO, and CH), to evaluate the health of Li-ion battery (LIBs). Various sites on the pristine WSe monolayer are considered for the functionalization with Pd and Pt atoms. Myopia is an evolving global health challenge, with estimates suggesting that by 2050 it will affect half of the world's population, becoming the leading cause of irreversible vision loss. Moreover, myopia can lead to various complications, including the earlier onset of cataracts. Given the progressive aging of the population and the increase in life expectancy, this will contribute to a rising demand for cataract surgery, posing an additional challenge for healthcare systems.
