A grounded theory study of elderly registered nurses was conducted to explore perceptions about the nursing profession in light of the nursing shortage. The participants ranged in age from 65 to 90 and came from a variety of educational and nursing backgrounds. As they spoke of their perceptions, participants shared their personal stories regarding the reasons they went to nursing school, ways they feel they made a difference in others' lives because they were nurses, and their views as elderly patients of nursing today. Their narratives describe barriers to nursing education and nurses and patients in the 1920s through 1960s and the changes that have occurred in nursing and medicine.

Background: Despite affecting 2-4% of the population worldwide, fibromyalgia often remains refractory to treatment. Here we report the first international randomised double-blind, sham-controlled trial developed to assess the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) as an add-on therapy for fibromyalgia.
Methods: Women aged ≥18 yr with fibromyalgia refractory to best available treatment were enrolled in Brazil, France, and Japan, and randomised to 10 Hz motor cortex (M1) rTMS, 3000 pulses day, or sham stimulation.

Background And Aims: Current evidence underscores that oxidative stress (OS) is a pivotal factor in the formation of vulnerable plaques in individuals with coronary heart disease (CHD). The Oxidative Balance Score (OBS), a comprehensive measure of systemic OS, consists of 15 antioxidants and 5 pro-oxidants, with higher scores indicating greater antioxidant activity. We hypothesized that a high OBS would be associated with improved coronary plaque stability in CHD patients.

Patients with diabetes-related foot ulcers may require hospitalization and face an increased risk of amputation, which can significantly impact their quality of life. One potential solution is exercise, which can regulate blood glucose levels, improve wound healing, and enhance overall well-being. This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the impact of a lower limb resistance training program combined with breathing-regulation techniques on glycemic control, wound healing, and quality of life in patients with diabetes-related foot ulcers.
