We describe a case of sarcoidosis exacerbated after acute hepatitis C, with particular reference to past case reports. A 30-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital in June 1997 because of cough and chest discomfort. Sarcoidosis was diagnosed as a result of chest radiography findings, transbronchial lung biopsy and bronchoalveolar lavage. A month later she was re-admitted because of fatigue. Acute hepatitis C was diagnosed from the findings of liver histology and HCV RNA. On the 42 nd day of hospitalization she complained of a severe cough, and a chest radiograph showed aggravation of bilateral reticulonodular shadows. This case suggested that acute hepatitis C may lead to an exacerbation of sarcoidosis. On August 4, 1999, the bilateral reticulonodular shadows had disappeared from the chest radiographs. Acute hepatitis C became chronic, but subsequently resolved spontaneously.

Background And Objective: To determine whether there is disproportionate reporting of hepatobiliary disorders in the United States (US) FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) for individuals prescribed ketamine or esketamine.
Design: We identified Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities (MedDRA) terms in the FAERS related to hepatobiliary disorders.
Main Measures: Formulations of ketamine and esketamine were evaluated for the proportionality of reporting for each hepatobiliary disorder parameter using the reporting odds ratio (ROR).

Human enteric viruses and emerging viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, influenza virus and monkeypox virus, are frequently detected in wastewater. Human enteric viruses are highly persistent in water, but there is limited information available for non-enteric viruses. The present study evaluated the stability of hepatitis A virus (HAV), murine norovirus (MNV), influenza A virus H3N2 (IAV H3N2), human coronavirus (HCoV) 229E, and vaccinia virus (VACV) in reference water (RW), effluent wastewater (EW) and drinking water (DW) under refrigeration and room temperature conditions.

Minimal change disease (MCD) accounts for 10 - 15% of idiopathic nephrotic syndromes in adults. Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is rarely ascribed as a cause of MCD and was previously associated with interferon-based therapy. MCD in treatment-naïve chronic HCV infection is extremely rare, with only 3 cases reported in the literature.

From the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus in 2003 to the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 in 2019, coronavirus has seriously threatened human health. Electromagnetic waves not only own high penetration and low pollution but also can physically resonate with the virus. Several studies have demonstrated that electromagnetic waves can inactivate viruses efficiently.

Background And Aims: Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) is one of the leading causes of severe liver disease with limited pharmacological treatments for alcohol-related steatohepatitis (ASH). CD44, a glycoprotein mainly expressed in immune cells, has been implicated in multiple inflammatory diseases but has never been studied in the ALD context. We therefore studied its contribution to ASH development in mice and its expression in ALD patients.
