A small riverine community, Portuchuelo (8 degrees 37'S, 63 degrees 49'W), and a rural county, Monte Negro (10 degrees 15'S, 63 degrees 18'W), both in the state of Rondĵnia, Brazil, were studied for the purposes of ascertaining health conditions and the causes of the variability of some infectious diseases. The sample included 181 inhabitants of Portuchuelo and 924 of Monte Negro. Data on 11 blood polymorphisms (ABO, Rh, MNSs, Kell, Fy, haptoglobin, hemoglobin, ACP1, PGM1, GLO1, and CA2) were used to determine the ethnic composition of the inhabitants of Portuchuelo and Monte Negro. The contributions of Africans, Amerindians, and Europeans to the ethnic composition of the studied populations were, respectively, 0.21 +/- 0.046, 0.44 +/- 0.064, and 0.35 +/- 0.069 in Portuchuelo; and 0.25 +/- 0.032,0.12 +/- 0.046, and 0.63 +/- 0.054 in Monte Negro.

Background: Belzutifan, a first-in-class HIF-2α inhibitor, has shown antitumour activity as monotherapy and in combination with cabozantinib in patients with previously treated advanced kidney cancer. The phase 2 LITESPARK-003 study was designed to determine the antitumour activity and safety of belzutifan in combination with cabozantinib in patients with advanced clear-cell renal cell carcinoma that was previously untreated (cohort 1) or previously treated with immunotherapy (cohort 2). Here, we report results from cohort 1 of this clinical trial.

In this work, we have studied the effect of internal coupling in magnetic nanoparticles with inverted core-shell structure (antiferromagnet-ferrimagnet) and also magnetic surface anisotropy, performing Monte Carlo simulations based on a micromagnetic model applied in the limit of lattice size equal to the crystalline unit cell. In the treatment, different internal regions of the particle were labeled in order to analyze the magnetic order and the degree of coupling between them. The results obtained are in agreement with experimental observations in CoO/CoFeOand ZnO/CoFeO systems, which we have taken as reference.

Previous work demonstrates districts can promote group diversity within their schools with policies like redrawing attendance zones. Yet, the promise of such policies in many areas is limited by the fact that most school segregation occurs between school districts, and not between schools in the same district.
