Hot spots (HSs) are regions of enhanced radio emission produced by supersonic jets at the tip of the radio lobes of powerful radio sources. Obtained with the Very Large Telescope (VLT), images of the HSs in the radio galaxy 3C 445 show bright knots embedded in diffuse optical emission distributed along the post-shock region created by the impact of the jet into the intergalactic medium. The observations reported here confirm that relativistic electrons are accelerated by Fermi-I acceleration processes in HSs. Furthermore, both the diffuse emission tracing the rims of the front shock and the multiple knots demonstrate the presence of additional continuous re-acceleration processes of electrons (Fermi-II).

: Accurate reconstruction of internal temperature fields from surface temperature data is critical for applications such as non-invasive thermal imaging, particularly in scenarios involving small temperature gradients, like those in the human body. : In this study, we employed 3D convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to predict internal temperature fields. The network's performance was evaluated under both ideal and non-ideal conditions, incorporating noise and background temperature variations.

The farming-pastoral ecotone has an important strategic place in the energy supply and ecological layout of China. Thus, exploring the spatial and temporal variation characteristics of carbon emissions in this region will help to deeply understand the information on the historical carbon emissions in China's energy production bases and provide data references for the formulation of differentiated emission reduction policies and the promotion of regional energy-saving and carbon-reducing measures, which is of great significance for the realization of low-carbon economic development. This study constructed a spatialization model of carbon emissions based on land use, night lighting, and provincial energy consumption data; explored the spatiotemporal changes and aggregation characteristics of carbon emissions in the farming-pastoral ecotone from 1995 to 2020 using the global Moran's index and hotspot analysis; and then combined it with the slack-based measure model to calculate the carbon emission efficiency and emission reduction potential of each city from 2010 to 2020 and classify cities to propose a differentiated emission reduction path.

Slow oxidation of coal during storage and transportation poses significant risks, making it essential to identify hot spots and understand the heat generation and gas production patterns in coal stockpiles. This study leverages the advantages of adiabatic oxidation experiments, which account for time effects, to accurately describe the low-temperature oxidation process of coal through warming and gas production dimensions. Additionally, the warming and gas production patterns of three-dimensional coal stockpiles with varying stacking parameters were investigated.

To address the limitations of carbon nitride in photocatalysis, we propose constructing a three-dimensional interwoven SiC/g-CN composite structure. Utilizing the strong microwave-thermal conversion characteristics of SiC whiskers, localized "hot spots" are generated, which induce rapid thermal gradients, promoting rapid polymerization of urea and in situ formation of the interwoven network. This unique structure strengthens the interaction between these two components, creates multiple electron transport pathways, enhances CO adsorption, and effectively improves charge separation while reducing photogenerated carrier recombination.
