Prompted by a series of executive orders, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) is promoting cumulative impact assessment (CIA) to integrate numerous factors that have the potential to impact community health, which include nonchemical stressors such as socioeconomic conditions, pre-existing health conditions, and many others that historically have not been addressed by USEPA's chemical risk assessment paradigm.

Super-resolution (SR) neural networks transform low-resolution optical microscopy images into SR images. Application of single-image SR (SISR) methods to long-term imaging has not exploited the temporal dependencies between neighboring frames and has been subject to inference uncertainty that is difficult to quantify. Here, by building a large-scale fluorescence microscopy dataset and evaluating the propagation and alignment components of neural network models, we devise a deformable phase-space alignment (DPA) time-lapse image SR (TISR) neural network.

Article Synopsis
  • Smoking is a significant public health issue in Tamil Nadu, causing preventable diseases and increasing healthcare costs, necessitating effective smoking cessation strategies in primary health care (PHC) settings.
  • The study aims to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of three proposed smoking cessation strategies against the current standard strategy, focusing on various combinations of counseling, nicotine replacement therapy, and medications for smokers aged 15 and older.
  • Results indicated that the current cessation strategy was more expensive than the proposed strategies, with two of them (PS1 and PS3) being more cost-effective, potentially leading to better resource allocation for smoking cessation efforts.

Background: Some of those infected with SARS-CoV-2 suffer from post-COVID syndrome (PCS). However, an uniform definition of PCS is lacking, causing uncertainty about the prevalence and nature of this syndrome. We aimed to improve understanding of PCS by operationalizing different classifications and to explore clinical subtypes.

Background And Purpose: This study aims to assess the disease burden and care quality along with cross-country inequalities for stroke at global, regional, and national levels from 1990 to 2021.

Methods: Data on stroke were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study 2021 for the globe, five sociodemographic index (SDI) regions, 21 GBD regions, and 204 countries/territories. The disease burden was quantified using the age-standardized disability-adjusted life years rate (ASDR).
