Purpose: Primary paraclinical investigation to look for femoral morphological abnormality consistent with cam-type anterior femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) must include specific radiographic projections of the hip from the following: cross-table, frog-leg or Dunn (90° and 45° flexion). We use a frog-leg type view with fixed angles as described by Chiron, obtained with the patient in a supine position, with the hip in 45° flexion-abduction and 30° external rotation. The X-ray beam is anteroposterior and centred on the femoral head.

Background: Radiofrequency neurolysis is a common technique used in the treatment of chronic pain, particularly facet (zygapophyseal joint) arthralgia. A needle-like cannula is insulated except for the exposed active tip, which is positioned as parallel and adjacent as possible to the targeted nerve branch. Via an inserted probe connected to a radiofrequency generator, energy flowing from the tip of the cannula creates a heat lesion in the 80 - 85 degree Celsius range mostly about the length of the exposed active tip and in proportion to the diameter of the probe.

Purpose: To evaluate the contribution of principal imaging techniques in diagnosis and treatment in adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder.

Materials And Methods: In 20 patients presenting adhesive capsulitis of shoulder since mean of 6,7 months, the following examinations were performed: radiographies, angioscintigraphy, MRI as well as an opaque arthrography and a bursography associated with corticosteroid injection. Patients were followed during one year.

[Impact of fatty degeneration of the suparspinatus and infraspinatus msucles on the prognosis of surgical repair of the rotator cuff].

Rev Chir Orthop Reparatrice Appar Mot

November 1999

Service de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique, Hôpital Henri Mondor, Créteil.

Purpose Of The Study: Rupture of the cuff tendons can induce a fatty degeneration of cuff muscles. In 1989 the authors proposed a grading in 5 stages of this degeneration based on CT scan. The purpose of this study was to determine whether this degeneration had an influence on anatomical and clinical results after surgical repair of the cuff.

[A study of the neurologic risk in tendino-muscular advancement of supra-spinatus and infra-spinatus in the repair of large rotator cuff rupture].

Rev Chir Orthop Reparatrice Appar Mot

January 1997

Service de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique, CHU Henri Mondor, Créteil.

Purpose Of The Study: An anatomical study by Warner et al. (1992) showed that an advancement of supra and infra-spinatus of more than 3 cm could be deleterious for the suprascapular nerve or its branches. In pathological conditions, the limit of possible advancement could even be less than 3 cm.
