Background: The persistently low number of postmortem organ donations in Germany has repeatedly led to political discussions and most recently to the amendment of the Transplantation Act with the strengthening of the role of the transplantation officer and the introduction of a register to document the will to donate. The background to these decisions was the assumption that a relevant proportion of potential organ donors in hospitals were being overlooked and not reported. However, due to the lack of guidelines as to when a potential organ donor must be reported to the DSO ("Deutsche Stiftung Organspende"), the existing data is only of limited validity.

Objective: Gain-of-function variants in the KCNT1 gene, which encodes a sodium-activated potassium ion channel, drive severe early onset developmental epileptic encephalopathies including epilepsy of infancy with migrating focal seizures and sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy. No therapy provides more than sporadic or incremental improvement. Here, we report suppression of seizures in a genetic mouse model of KCNT1 epilepsy by reducing Kcnt1 transcript with divalent small interfering RNA (siRNA), an emerging variant of oligonucleotide technology developed for the central nervous system.

Arginase (ARG) is a binuclear manganese-containing metalloenzyme that can convert L-arginine to L-ornithine and urea and plays a key role in the urea cycle. It also mediates different cellular functions and processes such as proliferation, senescence, apoptosis, autophagy, and inflammatory responses in various cell types. In mammals, there are two isoenzymes, ARG-1 and ARG-2; they are functionally similar, but their coding genes, tissue distribution, subcellular localization, and molecular regulation are distinct.

Methods: The present study is the first case report of a mandibular HOT consisting of Ameloblastoma, Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor, and Ameloblastic Fibroma.

Background: Despite increased access to HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Canada, familiarity and experience among primary care providers (PCPs)-including family doctors and those working with key populations-remains limited. To understand the barriers and facilitators of PrEP familiarity and experience, we conducted a situational analysis in PCPs in sub-urban and rural Ontario.
Methods: We surveyed a non-probabilistic sample of PCPs using an online questionnaire, designed with the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR).
